Gambit and mousesports grab close wins in Kiev
Gambit and MOUZ have each grabbed 16-14 wins at the end of day one at StarSeries, defeating Complexity on Dust2 and Sprout on Train, respectively.
Gambit started off their opening match against Complexity on Dust2 on the right foot, leading 5-0 as Terrorists early on after setting a quick pace. From the second gunround on, the North American side caught on with Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan and Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz leading the way on the defense to go on a seven-round streak and take the lead.
They were looking to finish off the first half with a double-digit lead as Gambit had issues with adapting, but Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev stepped up with a 1v3 clutch to help his team secure two out of the last three rounds for a 7-8 scoreline.

The Kazakh-Russian team picked up some momentum in the second half with the first four rounds going their way, and after breaking their opponents' two rounds later, they had their eyes set on the victory.
However, Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker responded with a key triple in the next forcebuy to turn the economy in Complexity's favor, who retook the lead after stringing four rounds together. It wasn't enough, though, as Gambit stood their ground, securing four out of the last five rounds to clinch a 16-14 win.

MOUZ and Sprout closed out the day, as well as the first round of the Swiss stage, with their encounter on Train. The tournament favorites were in the driving seat from the get-go as they started on the CT side, with the pistol round and the first gunround going their way for a 4-0 lead.
Sprout responded in the fifth round, but MOUZ didn't let them string rounds together and remained in control of the economy, which continued to be the case throughout the first half. With Chris "chrisJ" de Jong wreaking havoc with the AWP, Niels Christian "NaToSaphiX" Sillassen & co. only secured three rounds on the Terrorist side.

The German-Danish squad started mounting a comeback with a pistol round win, which helped them lower the deficit to four rounds before MOUZ found their way to their first on the offense. However, just like in the first half, the Terrorists were unable to rack up consecutive rounds, with Sprout resetting their opponents twice to equalize the scoreline at 14-14 on the back of great play by Denis "denis" Howell.
However, they couldn't complete the comeback, as Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný and Robin "ropz" Kool gave their team a few key pickoffs to avert disaster and pick up their first win at 16-14.
