Taking place on Mirage, the match between NRG and Fragsters began with the North Americans picking up a chaotic Terrorist pistol as Damian "daps" Steele denied Lucas "Bubski" Andersen from clutching a 1v2 situation, with NRG then making it a 5-0 lead fairly easily. The 20-year-old Dane still pulled a 1v2 clutch for his team, but Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov and co. hit back immediately to eventually go up 8-1.
Especially thanks to Martin "stavn" Lund stepping up to the plate, Fragsters strung three rounds together to bring the deficit to four rounds. Nevertheless, NRG got back on the board with nothing but pistols, which paved the way for the IEM Shanghai 2018 champions to secure an 11-4 half-time lead.
In the second half, Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte, who topped the scoreboard an impressive 1.89 rating, helped his team remain in charge of the match, losing just the gun round before sealing the deal 16-5 to book their spot in the event's playoffs.

Also on Mirage, mousesports versus ENCE started off with the latter bagging a quick 3-0 lead as Terrorists after winning the first pistol. The European mixture responded convincingly with guns to make it 2-3, but the Finnish squad did not back down and further added to their lead in the next two rounds.
Despite a shoddy buy, mousesports won the next round thanks to Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný's triple-kill with a saved AWP. ENCE replied with their sixth successful round and called for a tactical pause in a bid to find some breathing room, but mousesports went on a massive run to go up 9-6 by half-time.
ENCE kicked off the second half on the right foot, winning four rounds in a row to turn the score around in their favour, 10-9. mousesports immediately restored parity, but their opponents had a really tight defence and picked up a four-round winning streak to hit 14 rounds. Even though Chris "chrisJ" de Jong's men still found a lifeline by securing the next two rounds, Jere "sergej" Salo put his team on match-point with a great quad-kill, inspiring the Finns to accomplish the upset 16-12.
