BIG deny mousesports comeback, move on to playoffs

October 10th, 2018 19:40

BIG have eliminated mousesports from StarSeries i-League Season 6 after denying the European mixture a huge comeback on Train with a 19-17 victory.

The German side got off to a great start on the CT side of Train, leading 6-0 following a pistol round win, with Owen "smooya" Butterfield picking up a couple of multikills with an autosniper in the latter gunrounds.

mousesports got two rounds on the board in close retake scenarios on the B bombsite, but they got reset each time, with BIG securing 13 rounds in the half as Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz and the British player combined for 40 kills.

smooya's 1v2 clutch in overtime helped BIG seal the deal

Chris "chrisJ" de Jong & co. began closing the gap, however, as they picked up momentum on the back of a pistol round win. BIG continued to run into a wall over and over and mousesports got to double digits before their opponents found their way to the first round on the offense.

It was Tizian "tiziaN" Feldbusch's double opening that created the gap BIG needed to get within two rounds of victory, and they proceeded to clinch match point right afterward with a B execute. However, mousesports went right back to winning ways, clinching the last four rounds to take the match to overtime.

mousesports started off the better with two rounds on the defense, while tiziaN clutched a 1v2 to give his team room to breathe. That was exactly what BIG needed, as they went on a three-round streak on the CT side, with smooya securing another 1v2 for his team in the process.

looking back at it now, apparently snax has some issues with his personality. far more toxic than the old simple while his performance was far from the level simple displayed.

he means your win-loss ratios should be turned around, the numbers written back to front. because if you do that you get mousesport's path through the groups. ;)

Mouz hlave some ups and downs since Snax joined the team. They we’re much better with Styko in the team. I’m also concerned about the team mentality. I just saw a team that needs to play this match and go soon as possible from each other.

Yeah but they never won anything with styko, apart from a tier 4 event. With snax at least they won a tier 1 event even if Liquid chocked hard.

Agreed, they were more consistent with styko, but the other players were also showing up a lot more. So I don't think it's only snax to be blamed if anyone really.

Youre right, its maybe because the players are playing in different roles than before. Like in Belo Horizonte they were more free and almost won there. Only thing i recorded when i watched Mouz play was that Ropz isnt in form lately so i was thinking ... wtf ? what happened?

Mouz barely won any of their games, it was a fluke. its too early to blame snax for all of this slumping, they need to find some synergy with him in the squad and fast.

He keeps losing clutch situations (1v1) because a lot of pressure on him.

perhaps, but its not just Snax that feels that pressure. If he can't cope with the pressure in clutch situations that is something he as a player needs to work on. I am all for giving Snax more time, and the benefit of the doubt - but you can't deny the results, other than ESL ONE NY (which was a series of freak comebacks time and time again) the team has performed quite far below expectations.

Mouz is a perfect example of why role players are important on CSGO, now they are all over the place and the team is a mess. Styko was a great fit for the team, like Taco used to be on SK or now on Liquid. People should look less on stats and more on the overall impact a player has on a team. Otherwise FaZe would be the best team on the world, but we have Astralis who plays with a support (probably the best CSGO ever had). On any team on any sport there is roles and structure, skill alone won't get you all the way to the top.

a series of fluke combacks lead to them winning ESL ONE NY. with STYKO in the squad they won StarSeries season 4 and mykonos. We are yet to see what the squad with snax in it can do, he has so many challenges on his plate to integrate into this Mouz side, most notably being the language barrier - imagine having to learn a new language whilst trying to play Pro level CS:GO... not going to be easy. Simply put - Snax is still evolving into a player that Mouz need him to be. that being said, STYKO really didn't deserve to get benched, sure his frag totals were usually one of the lowest on the team, but that was to support the likes of Ropz (who has fallen off tremendously since STYKO was benched) sunny, and oskar. so they can just worry about destroying peoples faces. I don't know what to think about this, i am in the camp of they've made their bed and they need to lie in it for a longer period of time before they start cutting players again, its simply too soon to judge. EDIT: got the season number wrong, it was season 4 they won.
