Official: kassad returns to Renegades
Renegades have officially confirmed the return of Aleksandar "kassad" Trifunović as head coach, who had a surprise appearance ahead of their opening match against CyberZen at StarSeries i-League Season 6 on Sunday.
The Serbian coach left Renegades in May after his last event with the Australian squad at ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals, where they finished in 9-12th place.
During kassad's previous one year and a half stint with the former Australian lineup, he led them to two Asia Minor victories, an SL i-League Invitational title in Shanghai last year, on top of several playoffs runs including the 5-6th place at IEM Sydney 2018.
In mid-June, the 31-year-old was hired to guide Valiance, but he left after just four months, during which the team attended the Good Game League, in Poznan, and the ZOTAC Cup Masters 2018 Europe Regional Finals, in Milan.
After bringing Oceanic talents Sean "Gratisfaction" Kaiwai and Jay "Liazz" Tregillgas to North America, Renegades had a 6-0 winning spree in ESL Pro League Season 8 before reuniting with kassad in Kiev.
With Aaron "AZR" Ward stepping up to be the shotcaller following Noah "Nifty" Francis' departure and kassad standing behind the "boys" at StarSeries i-League Season 6, Renegades' new lineup went on to overcome their BO1 swiss format curse with a 3-1 record, cementing their first playoffs appearance at their LAN debut.
Renegades' complete roster is now the following:
Justin "jks" Savage
Aaron "AZR" Ward
Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad
Sean "Gratisfaction" Kaiwai
Jay "Liazz" Tregillgas
Aleksandar "kassad" Trifunović (coach)
