ENCE overcome BIG to book StarSeries semi-final spot

ENCE came from behind to beat BIG 2-1 and book their spot in the StarSeries i-League Season 6 semi-finals.

The second quarter-final match of the day kicked off on BIG's map pick, Overpass, but it was ENCE who came out the brighter of the two sides, first with a successful pistol and then with the first gun round, in which Jani "Aerial" Jussila got a quad-kill to his name. Down 5-0, BIG got on the board thanks to Fatih "gob b" Dayik and Owen "smooya" Butterfield turning a 2v4 situation around, with the German veteran finding three frags with just 3hp.

BIG kept breaking through the ENCE defence and levelled up the score at 6-6. Still, the Finnish side bounced back and won two more rounds to switch sides with a narrow 8-7 lead.

Johannes "nex" Maget opened up the second half with a clean quad-kill to win the second pistol for his team, who then picked up the anti-ecos fairly easily to go up 10-8. ENCE responded with a three-round winning streak to hit 11 rounds, but BIG immediately restored parity.

Aleksib's men will take on OpTic in the semi-final

Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen called a tactical pause, inspiring his team to hit map-point after winning four rounds in a row. BIG did not back down, however, winning four rounds of their own - the last of which thanks to a quad-kill from Tizian "tiziaN" Feldbusch that included a 1v2 clutch - to take the game to overtime. The match remained a chaotic affair from there on out, but BIG managed to prevail after 12 extra rounds.

Nuke followed the same pattern as the previous map, with ENCE, this time around as Terrorists, getting five rounds right off the bat before BIG won their first. But contrary to Overpass, gob b's men could not handle their opponents' gameplan, with the Finns eventually picking up a convincing 8-2 lead.

Nevertheless, BIG were able to reduce the deficit to five rounds by half-time, and then to just one after winning the pistol, the subsequent anti-ecos and the first gun round of the second half. Surprisingly enough, ENCE got their first round as CTs with nothing but CZs, and, after that, went on a massive run to take the series to a third map without conceding any more rounds.

Aerial was one of the key players for ENCE in the series

Starting out as Terrorists on the decider, Train, ENCE got off to a lively start once again, this time around picking up the opening four rounds. After losing their first round, the Finnish side were forced to eco, but once they got their economy back on track, they put together another string of rounds, increasing their lead to 8-2.

BIG struggled to keep the Terrorists at bay, but still managed to win the final three rounds of the half to reduce the deficit to 6-9 and keep their comeback hopes alive.

In the second half, the Germans levelled up the score on the Terrorist side after winning the pistol round and the subsequent anti-ecos. ENCE responded with two consecutive rounds, forcing gob b to call a tactical pause. However, that was not enough to stop Aleksi "allu" Jalli's troops, who bagged a 13-9 lead without much effort.

nex still found a lifeline for his team with a 1v3 post-plant clutch, but ENCE had their eyes set on the next stage in Kiev, and quickly sealed the deal to book a semi-final berth.

Northern lights flash in the sky. A blizzard blows, pelting on its way those too weak to withstand the fury of winter at its fullest. From the permafrost strikes a massive hand; the mythical giant once deemed dead off the coast of Italy now rises to life, regenerated, from Lappish soil. The time is due. Around the world, the word spreads. In Sweden, the best of the best cower in fear and lock themselves in the nearest IKEA retail store. The Brazilians run into the safety of the jungle, the Danes play dead in Legoland and the Slavs sprint crying to babushka’s warm embrace. Enceladus’s augurs are unleashed upon the scene. Aleksi “allu” Jalli hails from his journey spent in international teams. A man may leave Finland, but Finland never leaves a man. Once again, he picks up the green rifle, this time not for money or fame, but to smite all opposition in the name of Enceladus. Aleksi “aleksib” Virolainen leaves the fabled squad of HAVU to lead what we can finally describe as a Finnish superteam. Under his leadership shall the northern guns spit death and destruction upon foes who wail in their weakness. Jani “aerial” Jussila joins after the biggest transfer of the Finnish e-sport scene from his former team SuperJymy. No longer will he be the only stand-out player of his team, but instead, a vital ingredient of a chaotic cocktail made up of Finland’s finest. Jere “sergej” Salo thwarts all rumors of desperate Internet trolls trying to tell they know his parents who told him to stop playing. Oh, the humanity! Backed up by the forces at home, bursting from motivation like a wolf thirsting for blood, he returns to ravage everything in his path. Where skill rises to speak, experience sits silent and disciplined. Sami “xseveN” Laasanen fills the ranks from iGame, for what would the team be if they wouldn’t buy the best player from every other Finnish team? Vigilantly standing, supporting his teammates be the cause what it pleases to be, he will be the shield and sword his comrades need to achieve the ultimate. The warning has been given. The sky screams, the ground shakes and the oceans boil. ENCE is coming. #EZ4ENCE
