The third series of the day in Kiev began on Dust2, a map Vega Squadron had played just once in the last three months. Fragsters came into the game with fire in their bellies and took the lead with a textbook B execute in the pistol round, but there was no follow-up as the Russian side hit back immediately thanks to two key frags by Pavel "hutji" Lashkov.
After getting their economy back on track, Fragsters picked up their second round of the game with another full-on B push. That round was immediately traded back by Vega Squadron, though, with the Russian side riding that momentum to carve out a 8-2 lead. It was only then that Fragsters managed to string rounds together, but the Russian side quickly regained control of proceedings and closed out the half with a commanding 11-4 lead.
Now playing on the CT side, Vega Squadron won the pistol round to further added to their lead, but then they got a taste of their own medicine as they lost an anti-eco round - gifting Fragsters a route back into the game.
The Danish team put their foot down and brought the deficit to just four rounds, but then they lost control of the game. Vega Squadron began to exert pressure on mid, where they constantly found picks to secure early leads. On top of they, they kept their opponents' economy very low all the time as they down any chances of the Danes stringing rounds together, with the game coming to a close in the 26th round.
Cache, a map where Fragsters had lost all games played in the last three months, quickly got out of hand for the Danes. Starting out on the Terrorist side, Vega Squadron ran all over the CTs and cruised to a 10-1 lead before Fragsters finally tightened up their defence to win the remaining rounds of the half.
Things then went from bad to worse for Fragsters, who lost the pistol round after being shut down by hutji inside A. Luckily for them, they were able to respond immediately with only CZs and Desert Eagles, taking advantage of their economy control to bring the deficit to 8-11.
Vega Squadron took control of the game after that as they won four rounds without response to hit match point. Fragsters still had some fight left in them, though, and picked up the pace, but their resistance was finally broken in the 29th round.
