GG.BET Shuffle reaches playoffs

The group stage of the GG.BET Shuffle IEM Chicago Qualifier has come to an end, with the four group winners booking spots in the playoffs.

LDLC, Imperial, Vitality and Red Reserve have all earned spots in the single-elimination bracket after topping their respective groups, joining four sides invited by UCC.

Gambit, one of the four invitees, have decided to withdraw from the tournament as they still do not have a full line-up, with Heroic replacing the CIS side in the bracket. The Danish team, who recently won the Games Clash Masters, in Poland, will be taking on Red Reserve in the quarter-finals.

Heroic replace Gambit in the playoffs

The stand-out match of the first round will be the one pitting Vitality against StarSeries i-League Season 6 semi-finalists OpTic in what will be the biggest test for NBK's side since the creation of the team.

The winner of the GG.BET Shuffle will secure the final spot at IEM Chicago, a $250,000 tournament that will be held next month at the Wintrust Arena, joining the likes of Astralis, Liquid and Natus Vincere.

Below you can find the quarter-final match-ups of the tournament:

Sweden Red Reserve vs. Denmark Heroic
France G2 vs. France LDLC
Denmark OpTic vs. France Vitality
Finland ENCE vs. Lithuania Imperial

Optic too inconsistent. Their line-up should have been much better considering what they have on paper.

Ever thought why mousesports reportedly wanted STYKO back instead of picking up ScreaM, cromen, etc? Because they value his supportive element, and without it the team is much more inconsistent, with worse teamplay, communication, chemistry, etc.

2018-10-12 22:32
LMAO as said LDLC will easily rekt them. Besides only 1st place will qualify to IEM chicago, tho I suppose 2nd place can be good if some team decides to forfeit their spot in event.
2018-10-12 22:32
ENCE doing the usual and letting lesser teams compete but still asserting there dominance winning this tournament but pulling out of Chicago.
2018-10-12 22:34
LDLC is really solid. G2 is on a slump. I believe LDLC will take this one.

Heroic > RR These two are the weakest teams in the qualifier by far. Heroic was unimpressive even before the roster changes and they have been lackluster ever since. They do manage to get a few wins here and there, but against decent level of competition they haven't looked structured or individually sharp. I don't think they will get any further than this win, since their opponent Red Reserve has crumbled under qualifier-playoff pressure every time I have watched them play. And when I have seen them play good its usually individuals making solo plays which might work against weak top 25ish team like Heroic, however I don't think they can carry the momentum from VP win any further than to this round of eight. LDLC < G2 While upsets happen especially when two local teams meet I do favor G2. Their form is anything but good and even more worrying are the rumors about KennyS's motivation issues as well as his uncertainty to continue in the organization itself. Even so I do think experience and individual talent these players hold can take them to the next stage. Devoduvek and Amanek have not been as good as they were in Misfits even though they still are excellent players. That being said I wouldn't be too surprised if LDLC took this. Optic > Vitality It is hard to see Optic losing to a brand new line-up even if it is an interesting one. Even though Optic has a new roster it still carries over some of the tactics and teamplay from the former one, which is why I don't believe that even the hungry Vitality line-up will prevail. StarSeries has been a great tournament for K0nfig and if he can carry that momentum and form to these qualifiers it will be hard even for these Frenchies to stop him. ENCE > Imperial As a Finn I ofcourse am biased towards ENCE, however I do think history will repeat itself with this game. ENCE seems like more structured team and that in itself often proves to be a bigger asset than having a clear starplayers like Espiranto. Also Hadji has been a liability for the team even if we view him within his role. He seems to be way behind everyone elses individual level to a too big degree even for support player.
