IESF World Championship groups drawn

The draw for the group stage of IESF World Championship 2018 has been revealed on Friday, with 26 teams having been split into eight groups.

Held at the Kaohsiung Arena in Taiwan, the CS:GO tournament of the three-day IESF World Championship 2018 will kick off on November 9. In Kaohsiung, a total of 26 teams will be battling it out for a $20,000 prize pool.

fox's Giants are among the participants

The event will begin with a best-of-one, round-robin group stage, from which the top two teams from each group will advance to the single-elimination, best-of-three playoffs.

Among the most notable participants are Ricardo "fox" Pacheco's Giants, who have been drawn into Group D alongside Flow and ForGlory, SCARZ Absolute, who have been placed in Group E, and Jesse "zehN" Linjala's HAVU, who will take on Revolution and Xiphos in Group H.

But winning a tournament with people all around the world doesn't make you the world champion.

The IESF is supposed to be the FIFA of esports, so they're trying to create a FIFA World Cup of sorts. I'm glad this exists and I'd love for it to become as big as the World Cup.
