mousesports to IEM Chicago quarter-finals over Luminosity
Group B's lower bracket final began on the Brazilians' pick, Cache, but it was mousesports who ran away with the beginning of the opening map, leading 5-0 early on. Luminosity responded in the sixth on the back of doubles from Henrique "HEN1" Teles and Lucas "steel" Lopes, but a 1v2 clutch saw mousesports regain momentum and climb to 9-1.
Gustavo "yel" Knittel's team then won a halfbuy, which inspired them to secure four out of the remaining five rounds of the half. With a pistol round going their way, Luminosity clawed back just a three-round deficit, but mousesports came out on top of the first gunrounds to string three together.
The Brazilian side replied as Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles stepped up with a massive quad-kill, and with yel and HEN1 adding on a couple of big individual plays, the score was 13-14. That was when Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný and Robin "ropz" Kool combined for five kills in a close round to reset their opponents and finish off the map at 16-13.
With that, the European mixture went on a seven-round streak before HEN1 stepped up with a triple-kill. However, another huge 1v3 clutch by ropz broke the Brazilians and mouz went up 12-3. With the second pistol round in the bag, Chris "chrisJ" de Jong's side made short work of their opponents, securing a 16-5 win on Mirage to advance to the quarter-finals.
