The first six teams for the Asia Minor Championship leading to the IEM Katowice Major have been determined after several qualifiers across the region came to a close.
The Chinese and the East Asian qualifiers, both with two spots at the Minor on the line, went according to expectations as favorites ViCi, CyberZen, MVP PK and GOSU all prevailed without too much trouble.
The same cannot be said for the other two qualifiers that ended on Friday, though. In Southeast Asia, Beyond took first place after breezing past TNC in the final, with BOOT-d[S] finishing in a disappointing third place.
NASR, who had placed second at eXTREMESLAND Asia last month, cut a frustrating figure in the Middle Eastern closed qualifier, which was topped by exDT after beating FIREMIX in the final. This will be the second international event in the space of a few months for the Israeli side, who placed top eight at the recent IeSF World Championship, which they attended under the name Aequus.
The final two teams for the Asia Minor will come from the Oceanic closed qualifier, which will be held on November 18-19, with Renegades, Tainted Minds and ORDER among the teams vying for a spot in the next stage.
The Asia Minor Championship will be held at the ESL Arena in Katowice from January 22-26, with two spots in the Major's New Challenger Stage up for grabs. The third-placed side will take part in a play-in stage, which will determine the final two teams competing at the Major.
The team list for the Asia Minor currently looks as follows:
