Luminosity to DH Atlanta final over Ghost

November 18th, 2018 19:51

Luminosity are through to the grand final at DreamHack Open Atlanta after defeating Ghost 2-1 in the semis (10-16 on Train, 16-10 on Dust2, and 16-14 on Inferno).

The first semi-final at DreamHack Open Atlanta was between Ghost and Luminosity who started their best-of-three series on Train. Ghost kicked things off with the pistol victory on the T-side and followed it up with three more to lead 4-0.

Henrique "HEN1" Teles got a double kill with the AWP in the fifth round, giving Luminosity their first. The Brazilians tied the game at 4-4 but couldn't take the lead as Yassine "Subroza" Taoufik's double kill in the ninth round was enough for Ghost to go in front (5-4).

Luminosity recovered after losing the first map

Gustavo "yeL" Knittel got double kills in all three of the following rounds and Luminosity took the lead (7-5). However, they were unable to finish the first half ahead as Ghost took the last three rounds before halftime and led 8-7.

Ghost started their CT-side campaign by winning the first two rounds (10-7). Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato's heroics, including a triple kill in a 2vs3 and an ace in the 25th round, wasn't enough for Luminosity who lost the map 16-10.

Ghost went out in 3-4th place

Dust2 started with the T-sided Ghost winning the pistol round. Luminosity hit back in the second round but Ghost went on a five round streak to make it 6-1. After trailing 9-6 at halftime, the Brazilians took three in a row to make it 9-9.

Ghost only secured one round on the CT-side as Luminosity picked up nine rounds in the second half. Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles & company closed out the map with a 16-10 scoreline after winning a 3vs5 in the 26th round.

The Brazilian steel took his team to the grand final

The decider was Inferno where Matthew "WARDELL" Yu clutched a 1vs3 to put his T-sided team 1-0 ahead. Just like on Dust2, Ghost had a 6-1 lead after the first seven rounds. The Brazilian team won seven of the following eight rounds to make it 8-7 in their favor.

Kenneth "koosta" Suen's triple kill in the second pistol tied the game at 8-8. Ghost made it 12-8 thanks to Jason "neptune" Tran's 1vs2 clutch in the 20th round. Luminosity came back from 13-8 to win the map 16-14. The Brazilians have advanced to the grand final with the 2-1 series victory.

1-2 years but made to the final at a major? You mean 3-4 months
2018-11-18 20:43
1-2 years means 1-2 years. When was that major? Feels like ages ago. These players has been off the radar for soooooo long. Havent attended any t1-t2 tournaments for over 1,5 years atleast. Hence my statement is correct
2018-11-18 20:45
so? pronax won 3 majors and is still a trash player

but ther arent trash at all, very skilled players and clearly not t4, if they win this tournament they re a solid t2 team
2018-11-18 20:39
No? They are tier2 if they beat some tier2 teams which is not the case at all.

doesnt matter, even with a shit player the team can be good together, saying that pronax is shit to corroborate the "tier shit team" is stupidity. u r comparing two things that can't be compared (team and individual player)
2018-11-18 21:40
Well, he was saying that steel, hen1and lucas almost won a major, which was almost 2 years ago and is irrelevant. I was pointing out that old achievements mean nothing in 2018.
2018-11-18 22:17
u chose a poor way to show ur point. You could simply said "old achievements mean(s) nothing in 2018".

Typical NA mentality mistake to push down banana in such an important round and taking that risk.... Ghost lost this twice! First when HEN1 won 1v2 and second was when CTs pushed banana and both died! Sad, wanted Ghost to win the final here! ITs a decent team under steel!

LG deserved this third map more. Poor decisions with time management and both pistols make the match closed. But LG was way better in Inferno than Ghost.
