Renegades invited to IEM Sydney

The first team to be confirmed for the prestigious Australian event is Renegades, the tournament organisers have revealed.

The Australian side is currently in Thailand, competing in the $100,000 Toyota Master Bangkok event, where they have successfully secured their spot in the playoffs.

In six month's time, Renegades will return to their home country briefly to take part in the third iteration of Australia's largest esports event, consisting of $250,000 prize pool, sixteen-teams and a shot at the $1 million Intel Grand Slam title.

jks and co. will return to Australia in May

IEM Sydney will run from April 30 to May 5, with the first three days featuring the double-elimination group stages, while the remaining three days will present the playoffs to the live Australian crowd at the Qudos Bank Arena, which is the same venue hosted by ESL as previous years.

Last year, Renegades fell short to mousesports in the quarter-finals despite their former in-game leader and AWPer Noah "Nifty" Francis delivering one of his best performances before his departure to Envy.

With two new young guns in the form of Sean "Gratisfaction" Kaiwai and Jay "Liazz" Tregillgas on board, Renegades are eager to go even further than before at their home event.

I am almost certain you are baiting, but those unaware Nifty was forced to take IGL duties in the attempt to reform the team, may take your words seriously. Letting alone the fact that as an IGL you are expected to drop in fragging abilities, the decision to switch IGL's seems really weird considering RNG had Ustilo... Trying to use him as an entry/lurk instead of Nifty wasn't smart at all. Freed Nifty gets 51 kills vs mouz hltv.org/stats/matches/mapstatsid/66338/..

Was never forced to IGL, He literally asked Kassad (the coach) to do so, Ustilo was always an entry, Never a fuckin lurk LOL, AZR hasn't dropped ratings since taking up the igl role, In fact he has probably been playing better, 1 good match doesn't make up for 10 bad ones

Wel, after rechecking stats and stuff I should say you got some valid points...but I guess for me the story presented itself from another angle, with or w/o Nifty, the reason behind RNG struggles lies far beyond a sole player stats. RNG rely on Kassad too much, and while he may be not a bad coach, his style is becoming too predictable for a tier1-2 teams 2018 - mostly group stage exits on med to big LANs(except Asia Minor ofc) Frequently not being able to close out matches, losing big leads - all RNG-2018 I highly doubt that's a certain player's fault.

Niftys calling was shit and predictable with no structure, The minute AZR took over igl they actually looked somewhat structured, Still same problems against anti eco's and can't win a pistol round to save their life but still improvements

So you don't invite NiP to IEM Chicago, but after some seriously bad results from Renegades you invite Renegades to a tournament they won previously. They really don't like Swedes
