TYLOO, Heroic advance to Toyota Master Bangkok final
Action resumed at Indoor Stadium Huamark with the quarter-final contest between pro100 and TYLOO, a match interrupted on Friday as Ke "captainMo" Liu had to be rushed to the hospital due to a mouth infection.
Down 0-1 in the series, TYLOO restored parity with a convincing victory on Mirage thanks to another great performance from HaoWen "somebody" Xu, who had already topped the scoreboard on the first map. Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand stole the show on Cache, where he went 26-6 (2.16 rating) to power his team to a 16-6 win.
The Chinese heavyweights had little time to rest as they had to play the very next match, against Group A table-toppers AGO, who were undefeated in the tournament. The Polish side came out strongly and took the lead in the series with a 16-3 beating on Dust2, but TYLOO completed the turnaround with back-to-back 16-6 wins on Mirage and Overpass, with Hui "DD" Wu and Kevin "xccurate" Susanto leading the charge.
The other semi-final encounter began with a dream performance by Daniel "mertz" Mertz, who had a 2.18 rating in Heroic's 16-3 thrashing on Inferno. Renegades hit back on Train, which they won 16-5, and they carried that newly-found momentum into Mirage as they strolled to an 11-4 lead. The Australians then seemingly ran out of gas as they allowed Heroic to win ten rounds in a row, but they valiantly came back from 12-14 down to force overtime. It was all for naught in the end, though, as the Danes would come out victorious to seal passage to the final.
Heroic and TYLOO will face off on Sunday at 08:00 in the best-of-five grand final, with this being only the third clash between the two sides. The Danes have a 3-0 map record against captainMo's troops, whom they faced at StarSeries Seasons 2 and 4.
