OpTic have guaranteed their place in ESL Pro League Season 9 Europe by beating Virtus.pro 2-0 while Envy defeated Singularity 2-1 to do the same in the North American division.

The upper bracket final at ESL Pro League Season 8 Europe Relegation in Dallas, Texas featured OpTic and Virtus.pro who battled for a place in EPL's ninth season. Nuke was the first map of the series and it kicked off with Jarosław "pashaBiceps" Jarząbkowski's quad kill in the first round, which gave his CT-sided team the pistol victory.

Despite winning the first three rounds, the Poles lost seven of the following eight which put them 7-4 behind. After the OpTic finished the half 9-6 in front, they won the second pistol thanks to Jakob "JUGi" Hansen's triple kill. Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke's team couldn't go on a lengthy streak but closed out the map with a 16-10 victory.

JUGi & Snappi were impressive against VP

Mirage began with a 4vs4 post-plant which the CT-sided OpTic secured. Piotr "morelz" Taterka got a triple kill in the eighth round to give Virtus.pro their first but the Polish side lost the following two (9-1). The Danish team led 12-3 after the first half.

Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer picked up a quad kill in the second pistol as OpTic won a 2vs5. Things got a bit dicey for René "cajunb" Borg's team who lost seven rounds in a row after making it 14-3. The breakthrough came in the 25th round when cajunb found two kills with the AWP to make it 15-10.

OpTic ended the map in the following round, winning it 16-10 and taking the 2-0 series victory. With this result, they have qualified for ESL Pro League Season 9 Europe while Virtus.pro have a last chance to qualify in the consolidation final.

Meanwhile, Envy and Singularity met in the upper bracket final at ESL Pro League Season 8 North America Relegation for a EPL Season 9 spot. The series started on Dust2 with Envy on the CT-side. Matt "Pollo" Wilson and Josh "jdm64" Marzano's kills gave the pistol victory to Envy who lost the following round.

Envy's recovery was poignant as they won nine rounds in a row to lead 10-1. Even though Singularity picked up the 12th round, Envy sealed a 13-2 first half victory with Stephen "reltuC" Cutler's ace in the 15th round. Noah "Nifty" Francis & co. went on to win the map with a 16-2 scoreline.

Envy kept their place in EPL

Singularity had a much better start to Train as CTs, putting up a strong defense and going 4-0 up. Envy responded by winning two in a row but Singularity then extended their lead to 11-2. Nifty got an ace in the final round of the half as his team finished it 11-4 behind. Singularity picked up five rounds at the early stages of the second half to take the 16-5 map victory.

The winners were decided on Mirage where Singularity got five rounds on the CT-side despite winning the first four rounds. Envy wrapped up the map 16-9, winning the series 2-1 and booking their place in ESL Pro League Season 9 North America. Singularity will be contesting for the last slot in the consolidation final.

ESL added 1 spot in the past just to save VP and now added 2 extra slots for EPL right before relegation process which means they don't have to play fnatic and NiP. Not much ESL can do if they can't win their games. If VP isn't good enough for EU EPL they should consider going to NA MDL then. Also hltv.org/matches/2328197/swole-patrol-vs.. losing to NA MDL winner.
