MIBR to trade Stewie2K for TACO and zews with Liquid - Report

MIBR are set to trade Jake "Stewie2K" Yip to Liquid in return for Epitacio "TACO" de Melo and coach Wilton "zews" Prado, according to a report from ESPN.

The report states that MIBR are looking to return to a fully Brazilian roster, which puts Tarik "tarik" Celik on the chopping block, as well, with the organization searching for a new home for the American player.

If the move comes to fruition, TACO will reunite with three of his former Luminosity and SK teammates, Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, Fernando "fer" Alvarenga, and Marcelo "coldzera" David, after a seven-month spell with Liquid, as will zews, who left the core in July 2016 to join up with Immortals as a player before transitioning back into a coaching role in Liquid by the end of the year.

After zews left SK, FalleN's squad did not field a coach for the next two years until they joined forces with renowned analyst Janko "YNk" Paunović in August. What will happen to the Serbian following the move is uncertain, but he is expected to be on his way out of the organization.

The report comes days after MIBR's stunning loss to Liquid in the semi-finals of ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals, as the team continued to struggle competing for titles after a series of mixed results with Stewie2K and tarik.

Liquid, on the other hand, have arguably had their best year in 2018, as they reached six big-event finals and won two smaller titles at cs_summit 2 and SuperNova CS:GO Malta, alongside deep runs at several more events.

The changes will not affect MIBR's lineup for BLAST Pro Series Lisbon, where Braxton "swag" Pierce is set to stand-in for fer. The Portuguese tournament could turn out to be Stewie2K's and tarik's last appearance under the MIBR banner.

I agree with all you said, at the sime time I see a different point of view for this. FNX has reportedly never been much of a training or practice guy, they always said he did what he did out of talent for cs. If FNX committed himself in some months of training to get back into shape, he could be a reasonable player for mibr alongside taco and zews. Such a hypothetical rooster could get into decent shape in some 2 or 3 months of hard practice.

Well, "training" is much more than just knowing the good spots, a map, or having a good aim, also helps teamwork and other stuff players on your team are likely to get better if someone better than them train with them and help talking about possible spots, what he does, etc. Not saying he is, or isnt like that, but for what you said, someone that doesn't cooperate/contribute with the team is way worse than someone that doesnt have a good aim (tarik spray LUL jk.)

I don't understand why Liquid would do this. They have never been better than they are right now and they're the second best team in the world atm. Dropping a great coach and adding Stewie2K won't make them number one. By all rights they should've won more 1st places than they did this year and I'm sure they would win more if they would just keep at it. I can't quite see the logic of what you`re saying. If they would lose to other teams as well on a more regular basis then yes, you could say they should consider a roster change. But to change your roster just because you`ve lost to Astralis once to many times.. oh well, by that logic every team out there should do roster changes because Astralis would wreck them all. I think they should maybe work a bit more on their strats against lesser equipped opponents. I`ve seen them giving away quite a few rounds to upgraded pistols against Astralis and really think it might have changed the outcome of the match.

They have lost to astralis in 6 big tournaments since taco joined, obviously they are doing pretty well against the other teams, but they cant get over the hump with astralis. it feels like a move out of desperation as when teams reach this point, things can stagnate, and morale inevitably drops. maybe liquid decided they need more firepower to go toe-to-toe with astralis. i think they had two options to get over the hump, roster moves or change their map pool a little. i think they need to do both to beat astralis.

Hmmm a good move for me. SK was a case of too many cooks. Cold and Stewie are both stars. One was always going to suffer and be playing a role they don't excel at. Taco on the other hand. Is a great support player. He has refound that form that he has lost when he left SK. SK will be stronger for this. Liquid, I'm not so sure. They needed the extra firepower sure. But not at the expense of such a good support player, I will be interested to see how it works out for Liquid.

This is a really bad move from Liquid. They keep getting second place, they should be happy, it was a matter of time before they could break Astralis, you could actually see that on the first map of the last BO5 they played. I mean the reason why the move could work os that TACO plays the exact same positions Stewie plays on CT side, and Liquid's CT side hold on Dust2 was the reason they choked ESL One New York. Also there is no longer a language barrier. Of course TACO can speak English, but its still not a super comfortable language for him as seen evidently in interviews. Stewie didn't feel hapoy to play with Brazilians on his team that werent as comfortable with English, and thr Brazilians wanted to play with peoplr that coukd speak Portuguese. The reason why I dont see this working out as bad as the snax move is because Snax could barely speak English, and Snax was a totally different player on CT side thsn Snax, while Stewie plays the exsct same bombsites as TACO while being more reliable as an anchor. Another reasin why this could work out because Stewie is better thsn anyone else on the Liquid roster with the awo, so they could be moving nitr0 who was known to be really good with rifles to a support position where he's always playing with rifles. They probably want stewie to awp because EliGE is already a great entry fragger and if anyone on the team is really willing to awp full time its stewie. I still think they should have given more time to the original roster, but when the players themselves want to leave the team.. what can you do?
