Cloud9, Na`Vi pick up narrow victories at BLAST Pro Series

Two close matches in the fourth group stage round in Lisbon saw Cloud9 win Overpass 16-14 over NiP, while Natus Vincere edged out FaZe 16-13 on Inferno, the two winners now in the running to reach the grand finals alongside Astralis.

The bout between NiP and Cloud9 started out with the Swedes taking control early on the CT-side of Overpass with two rounds, but a successful late hit on A put Cloud9 on the board in the third, with Robin "flusha" Rönnquist's men evening out the score the round after on the back of a triple from the temporary in-game leader himself.

Cloud9 will play Astralis next, for a chance to reach the final

Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson's Ninjas then took back the reigns in the match and won three in a row to lead 5-2, before a double-kill round by Timothy "autimatic" Ta and flusha secured Cloud9 their third, eventually evening out the score at 5-5. After the two sides shared the next pair of rounds, William "RUSH" Wierzba and co. eventually won the remaining three rounds of the half to lead 9-6 at the switch, the stand-in Ismail "refrezh" Ali clutching a 1v1 post-plant situation against Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg to reach a triple-kill in the 15th.

NiP won the second pistol after f0rest redeemed himself with a triple-kill, the Swedes eventually evening things out once again at 10-10. The match turned close toward the end, with rounds being traded between the two teams all the way up to a 14-14 scoreline, before Cloud9 finally sealed the deal with two in a row to win 16-14.

Denis "electronic" Sharipov made a powerful entrance in Natus Vincere’s Inferno match against FaZe, as the 20-year-old Russian gunned down four in the first pistol round on the CT-side. Their European opponents answered right back in the second round, though, and also won the third to take the lead. Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko decided to go for the AUG in the following round, which paid off, as he managed four kills over two rounds with it to help his men even out the score at 3-3.

electronic topped the scoreboard with 22 kills against FaZe

The CIS defending BLAST Pro champions looked defensively well-prepared, as they won the next pair of rounds, but an impressive quad-kill with the AWP by Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer reduced FaZe’s deficit to one round. Natus Vincere were unfazed by this, though, as they only conceded one more round as CTs to lead 10-5 at halftime.

Nikola "NiKo" Kovač took down three with his USP-S in the second pistol round, where he and Håvard "rain" Nygaard neutralized a B hit. FaZe also took the next pair of rounds, but a beastly quad-kill by Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev, which spanned action on both bomb sides, put Natus Vincere at an 11-8 lead. Finn "karrigan" Andersen and co. then evened out the score by securing the next trio of rounds, with the Dane getting an MP-9 quad kill in Banana along the way. The teams shared the following four rounds, putting them at a 13-13 scoreline, before Zeus’ men mustered up some convincing T-side rounds to eventually win three in a row and take Inferno 16-13.
