Envy eliminate TeamOne, through to Americas Minor semi-final
Group B's decider match kicked off on Train, where TeamOne landed the first digit, immediately followed by a force-buy from Envy that transferred the momentum in the NA reps' way at 3-1. While the wind may have been in their sails, the lead proved to be short-lived, as Bruno "bit" Lima's men marched forwards, consistently producing rounds in their favour. Come conclusion of the initial half, Envy only doubled their initial lead on the defence, as TeamOne walked away with a 9-6 T half.
The Brazilian-majority squad decided to keep it short and sweet, as a consecutive pistol was secured, alongside two follow-up rounds. Envy snagged their first of the half come a full buy, only for the CTs to financially reset them shortly after, creating space for a leap to map point at 15-7. A 3k from Stephen "reltuC" Cutler extended Envy's map life by one round, however a comeback was nowhere to be seen, as TeamOne successfully closed out their map pick with a 16-8 victory on Train.
Contrary to their previous performance, Envy kicked off Dust 2 with spring in their foot, landing not only a T-side pistol, but an additional four rounds on top. Consistent with previous developments, Envy were unable to hold on to the lead for long, as TeamOne came knocking, equalising the score at 6-6. Off the back of outstanding plays from bit and Pedro "Maluk3" Campos, the Brazilian-majority extended their position to eight rounds, with Envy having the final say, concluding the initial half 8-7 in TeamOne's favour.
The second pistol plus two was accrued by Envy, with immediate retaliation from TeamOne on the T side. As soon as rifles were seen in the hands of the Brazilian squad, so were rounds, as back to back round victories upset the CT economy, yielding the Ts a 12-9 lead. In what proved to be a nail-biter, both teams did their utmost to close out, but in the end regulation proved to be insufficient to decide the outcome of the map, pushing Dust2 into overtime.
Kicking off the initial half of overtime, Envy managed to secure the majority of CT rounds at 2-1. The T half proved to be fruitful for the NA reps as well, as the result from the defensive half was recreated, pushing the series into map three at 19-17.
Overpass saw Envy's CT cop yet another pistol, albeit without extensive follow-up this time round. The first rifle on TeamOne's T side marked the development of steady momentum, as the Brazilian-majority squad ran away with seven consecutive rounds, perched above their opponents at 7-2. The NA reps managed to significantly soften the blow, nabbing the majority of remaining rounds, concluding their CT side at a 6-9 deficit.
The Envy squad managed the final pistol as the offense, however they were unable to get the ball rolling. The Brazilian defence started accruing rounds as soon as they were able to purchase rifles, extending their lead to 12-8. A back-and-forth ensued, as Envy desperately tried to catch up with the defence. The Ts successfully managed to string together consecutive rounds, resetting TeamOne's economy. Both teams were working with full-buys in round thirty, however a successful B hit from Envy proved fatal, closing out Overpass 16-14 with a solid comeback.
