kNgV- shines as INTZ defeat Bravado; advance to Americas Minor playoffs
INTZ are through to the Americas Minor double-elimination bracket after defeating Bravado on two maps (16-3 on Inferno, 16-12 on Mirage).
The Group A decider began on Inferno, Bravado's map pick. INTZ, who had beaten Imperial in their previous match, started the series on the right foot, securing a 2-0 lead after winning their CT pistol with a quad-kill from Gustavo "yel" Knittel. Vito "kNgV-" Giuseppe then came up huge with triple-kill in a 2v3 post-plant situation to win the first gun round for his team.
The South African side still had money to work with and responded with their first round on the board, but they were immediately reset following a 1v2 clutch from Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes. INTZ kept shutting down Bravado from that moment, and, with kNgV- leading the way with 19 frags, they lost just two more rounds until half-time, securing a 12-3 lead.
INTZ would not let go off the gas in the second half, and quickly put the game to bed without losing any more rounds.
Starting out as Counter-Terrorists on their opponents' map pick, Mirage, Bravado looked much livelier as they secured the opening four rounds of the game. INTZ then got on the board with a triple-kill from chelo, but they could not follow that up as Dimitri "Detrony" Hadjipaschali and Johnny "JT" Theodosiou found a triple and a double-kill, respectively, with just pistols.
yel's men responded well, eventually reducing the deficit to a single round, but Bravado further added to their lead with a pair of rounds. INTZ did not back down, however, and went on a four-round winning streak to bag a narrow 8-7 lead by half-time.
In the second half, INTZ quickly hit double digits after picking up their third pistol of the series. The Brazilians then opened up the action in the first gun round with two frags, but Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek added a great quad-kill to his name to turn it around, inspiring Bravado to put together a string of rounds and reduce the deficit to a single round.
INTZ got back to winning ways with an impressive quad-kill from chelo, however, and kept pressing on, eventually sealing the deal at 16-12.
