NRG best Envy; through to upper bracket final at Americas Minor

NRG have defeated Envy 2-0 to advance to the upper bracket final at the Americas Minor taking place in Katowice, Poland (16-11 on Overpass and 16-9 on Mirage).

The first upper bracket semi-final at the Americas Minor featured NRG and Envy. The best-of-three series kicked off on Overpass where NRG started on the T-side and won the pistol round after Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov and Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte both got double kills.

Envy picked up their first in the fifth round but trailed 5-1 after losing the following round despite getting the opening kill. When NRG were leading 10-1, Envy won a 3vs3 post plant to kick-start their efforts to mount a comeback. Josh "jdm64" Marzano secured the final round of the half with an AWP ace as Envy trailed 10-5.

NRG started off on the right foot on both maps

jdm64 was also crucial in the second pistol round as he got a quad kill. Envy took four more rounds to tie the game at 10-10 but NRG reclaimed the lead thanks to a Deagle triple kill by Ethan "Ethan" Arnold in the 21st round (11-10). CeRq & company went on to close out the map with a 16-11 scoreline.

The second map was Mirage which began with the CT-sided NRG's pistol round victory. The game was tied at 2-2 when Brehze clutched a 1vs1 against jdm64 to put his team ahead. After Envy won the seventh round to trail 4-3, NRG secured eight rounds in a row to lead 12-3 at halftime. The last round of the half saw Brehze clutch a 1vs2.

Noah "Nifty" Francis stepped up in the second pistol, getting a triple kill in a 2vs3 situation and defusing the bomb (12-4). NRG found two entries in the 20th round with CZ-75s, extending their lead to 13-7. Jacob "FugLy" Medina & company won a 3vs5 in the following round to make it 14-7 and closed out the game 16-9 to win the series 2-0. With this result, NRG have advanced to the upper bracket final at the Americas Minor.

yeah I wonder why NaVi became shit when he left, Gambit won a major, they asked him back, Gambit became shit when he left, NaVi started to become good when he came back. Its definitely not all about the star players. Tbh his strats aint masterclass or anything but Id say his success comes from motivating the team and getting the team to work as a unit.

yup you just fluke your way thru 24 teams and many bo3 matches.. omfg the stupidity on hltvorg never seizes to amaze me. 16-10 mousesports 16-6 G2 16-11 Virtus.Pro 2-0 Fnatic 2-1 Astralis(who dropped SK, the fav in the tournament) 2-1 Immortals Please explain to me how can it be a fluke to be top8 in a major twice prior taking down teams like astralis 16-6 on the way and now in their third one they go all the way by besting all these teams and not losing a match and 2 maps overall?

major top8, major top8 and major win.. before major win won dreamhack austin and 2nd at cs summit plus finished top8 in the majors twice in a row, after major win.. zeus left and.. nothing. you do know that fluke means lucky? how can these results be luck? looks like an upwards curve to me. top8 major, top8 major, 2nd, 1st and a major win -> zeus and Kane leave and all goes to shit. edit: last response to this idiocy.

The Envy team cant ever work. Cutler is past his prime, JDM was never anyone outstanding. Nifty is an awper and an IGL and doesnt do either of those roles.

2019-01-24 19:14
This team has only slight chance if they got excellent teamwork and drill which is not case at all (and it never wont be imo, cause i dont believe in karrigan at all tbh). JDM and nifty should simply find some new talents to work with, this will be waste of time more or less.
