North knock out Envy from Minor Play-in, to face ViCi for Major spot

North are through to the consolidation final of the IEM Katowice Minor Play-in after besting Envy 2-0 in the lower bracket final.

The first series of the tournament kicked off on Train, where North secured the initial pistol on the CT side after a post-plant 2v1 turned hairy, salvaged by Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye. Early success proved pivotal for North, as the Danes confidently fended off Envy's aggression, forcing a whopping three time-outs on their opponents' part. Despite what seemed to be a ray of success at 1-8, the American roster proceeded to struggle on the T side, only able to double their score before the end of the half.

Tensions were understandably high for Envy going into the second pistol, and contrary to their T-side performance a successful 4v4 post-plant was converted. The momentum apparently reinvigorated the American squad, as the round disparity dwindled after seven consecutive rounds were accrued by Finn "karrigan" Andersen's men. A pistol buy from North in round 23 marked the Danes' first T round. This allowed the development of an economy, and a consecutive round victory meant the opposite for Envy. North closed out Train with a 16-9 scoreline, securing their opponents' map pick.

cadiaN spearheaded North's success on Train with a 1.42 rating

North continued with their success, this time on Mirage, as the first pistol was accrued off the back of a combined ace by Kjaerbye and Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså on the T side. A full-buy in round 3 yielded Envy their first round, but the American defence was reset shortly after, allowing North the leap to a 6-1 lead. The Danes maintained a lead throughout the initial half, but Envy fought back valiantly, bringing the deficit to three rounds.

A consecutive pistol on the CT side for North made for a lucrative extension of the score, as the following three rounds were also secured by the Danes, leading to a 13-6 score. Retaliation from Envy came in rounds 19 and 20, the latter of which witnessed a 3k from Taylor "Drone" Johnson, forcing the CTs to save in the ensuing round. Envy managed to claw an additional three rounds, but the Danish defence, despite being reset, managed to stabilise and close out their map pick at a convincing 16-11 scoreline.
