JW and KRIMZ sign three-year contracts with fnatic

Jesper "JW" Wecksell and Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson have extended their contracts with fnatic for another three years, the organization has announced.

The duo are fnatic's two longest standing members, having rejoined the organization in late 2016 (KRIMZ) and early 2017 (JW) following a short-lived period in GODSENT.

The players' tenure under the black-and-orange banner spans between four to five years each, as apart from the period at the brink of 2016 and 2017, they have been playing together since mid-2014, when KRIMZ joined the organization alongside Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer, while JW first linked up with fnatic in mid-2013.

JW and KRIMZ to stay with fnatic for three more years

The news, which was first revealed on JW's Twitch stream, comes at a time when fnatic are on a steady rise in the rankings following a promising showing at IEM Chicago, where they placed 3rd-4th in their debut with Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin and Simon "twist" Eliasson, as well as a triumph at PLG Grand Slam late last year.

Most recently, the Swedish side have made another top-four finish at iBUYPOWER Masters, with their journey ending at the hands of the eventual champions, Liquid.

Their next showing will be in the New Challengers Stage of IEM Katowice, which is set to begin on February 13.

fnatic's roster remains the following:

Sweden Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson
Sweden Jesper "JW" Wecksell
Sweden Richard "Xizt" Landström
Sweden Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin
Sweden Simon "twist" Eliasson

Sweden Jimmy "Jumpy" Berndtsson (coach)

JW made a name for himself by exploiting OP weapons and catching other teams out with an aggressive gold nova style of gameplay. He has no real skill to fall back on, so his form is gone for good. He has been carried for years since by some of the best players in the world. And lets face it, the only reason why he has an iconic name/brand is because he embraced the pig meme. Calling him the heart of Fnatic is like calling Dosia the heart of Gambit.

Not really. 2018 wasnt a great year for him as a player, but being in the top 20 3 times means you have skill? Are you retard yeS

Unfortunately, the HLTV ranking only takes into consideration performance not skill. What this means is, a low skilled player on an otherwise very skilled lineup can abuse overpowered weapons / farm easy kills while their teammates do all the hard work - and at the end of the year they will statistically be one of the best players at big events. Worth noting as well that JW even said in an interview with Thorin a while back that he felt his career benefitted immensely from weapons like the CZ being OP.

I have to question what fnatic is thinking, Krimz makes sense, but three years is a long time in CS. If you consider who was a top 20 player in 2015 and now you wouldn't want 3 year contracts. Get_right has gone from a top 5 player to a low fragging support - albeit with great veteran experience. Take Snax also. JW is also questionable and although is the face of your brand with his aggressive style he could go downhill at any time. Particularly when you consider that young CSGO only talent is beginning to unearth the old dynasties of the 1.6 pros, I do not know why fnatic have made this decision... One would assume that there are decent bench clauses in these contracts to cover poor performance of these two players.

Prize pools are higher than ever Player count is very consistent We get new sponsors in the scene every week Every player says how competitive the scene is and how difficult it is to stay at the top. There are players earning well over 500k a year after sponsors and tournament wins + salary Last major was the most viewed major ever There is an entire new wave of players becoming elite And we are reaching scenes that we never reached before (south African team in top 30) Launched south American, Oceania, Indian leagues. What data do you have to suggest that "the scene isnt as big nowadays" or are you just talking out of your ass like everyone who says that.

Why would anyone in esports industry sign 3 year contract? Things are changing so quickly, it's guaranteed you will regret it. Unless you are so washed up you are stealing paychecks to begin with.

It could also be the other way around. Let's say someone contracted the astralis guys for 5 years 2014.. The wages could rise and they could fall. You never know, this is 50/50 who benifits in the end. Maybe fnatic thinks cs will grow the following years to come.

Krimz is stupid. Jw is trash and he has no way to other team, but krimz could join faze after major
