3DMAX & OpTic round out IEM Sydney EU closed qualifier

3DMAX and OpTic have topped the second open qualifier for IEM Sydney to round out the team list of the closed stage.

Over 300 teams signed up for the second European open qualifier for IEM Sydney, including a number of well-known teams such as OpTic, Gambit, FURIA, Heroic, Virtus.pro, and more.

The top side of the bracket saw Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer's men survive a couple of close matches against Filip "NEO" Kubski's mixture called 2k19PL and passions en route to the semi-finals, where the Danes met Gambit to fight for one of the two spots in the closed qualifier.

OpTic edged out Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov & co., putting up a couple of great defensive sides to clinch Dust2 after going the distance, 16-14, and Mirage 16-11 to advance to the next stage.

On the other side, expert surprised by making it all the way to the semi-finals, where they clashed with 3DMAX, who had defeated teams like Copenhagen Flames beforehand. The French side prevailed in the deciding series, taking down the Germans 16-12 on Nuke and 16-13 on Mirage to make it through.

The full team list of the IEM Sydney Europe Closed Qualifier, which will be played on February 6-8 and have a single spot at the Australian event on offer, is the following:

he was a terrible pickup for envy, he's a mediocre player that doesn't deserve to be on a high or highish tier team, yet he keeps being given chances.

Just to remind people that Devil was put on a position where we wasn't playing and hadn't the chance to change it. Happy wasn't looking for change, they were just looking for someone to replace k1o.

I've seen devil play in many different positions on many different teams, and he has always been a very average player. I've seen him continue this trend in 3dmax

Here is my opinion : I think he did not accomplish his transition with t1 CS like xantares/ropz...even bodyy did but lets remember : the context itself was terrible in Envy. He is not a terrible player but he simply failed his transition in a terrible context. In 3DMAX i think he can achieve great in t2-3 CS. Also, why does him having difficulties make him a bad person to laugh about ? :/

I never 'laughed' at him. I'm just being truthful that he isn't a good player. I've seen him play many different positions on a few different teams, some of which are much lower tier, and he has always proven himself time and time again to be a mediocre player. So far this trend has only continued on 3dmax
