mousesports down to three
MOUZ are now down to three players following the departure of Martin "STYKO" Styk and Chris "chrisJ" de Jong from the active roster, while Sergey "lmbt" Bezhanov is also set to be replaced, the organization has announced.
The organization cited the team's woeful campaign at the Europe Minor ahead of IEM Katowice, where MOUZ bombed out in the group stage to miss out on a spot at the Major, as the main reason for the overhaul.
The move means that, for 2019, MOUZ will build around the star trio, Miikka "suNny" Kemppi, Robin "ropz" Kool, and Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný, who were at the forefront of the team's numerous successful campaigns throughout 2018.
This marks the second time STYKO finds himself out of the active roster since his arrival to the squad in mid-2017, having been replaced by Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski in June of last year before returning to the roster four months later.
For chrisJ, who has been part of the German organization since late 2013, this is also not an unfamiliar position, as he sat on the bench in early 2017 but came back into the active lineup in less than two weeks upon the departure of Nikola "NiKo" Kovač.
The organization has stated that they are looking to make a change in the coaching position, as well, which puts lmbt in an inactive role alongside the aforementioned duo following a two-and-a-half-year-long stint with mousesports.
"Parting ways after one and a half years and 19 offline tournaments is not easy, but sometimes a few steps back can be multiple steps forward. There are no hard feelings or any bad blood inside the team, we just drove ourselves into a situation we couldn’t get out of and something had to change," suNny said in a statement for mousesports.
"It was the most successful run for all of us and I hope that this will change the careers of all of us for the better. Thank you guys for everything. Looking forward to a new and fresh chapter now, where we can be consistent contenders for titles again."
