Renegades beat ENCE to book New Legends Stage spot

Renegades are the first Challenger through to the New Legends Stage after beating ENCE 2-0 in a promotion match.

A Nuke pick by ENCE was meant to be a curve ball thrown at Renegades, who had not played the map in the last three maps, but the gamble backfired horribly for the Finnish side, who were simply outplayed by the Australian side.

The game began at a frantic pace, with ENCE hitting back immediately after losing the pistol round. Their lead would not last, though, as Renegades took control of proceedings after getting their economy back on track, cruising to an 11-4 advantage thanks to strong individual performances by Justin "jks" Savage and Jay "Liazz" Tregillgas.

Overcoming a seven-round deficit on CT side was perfectly doable, but ENCE were dealt a heavy blow as they lost the pistol round following a lightning-fast lower site execute by Renegades, who followed it up with the subsequent anti-ecos.

ENCE still attempted a response and strung three rounds together, but their resistance was then broken. Renegades hit map point with an upper execute before putting the game to bed with a quad kill by Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad.

Renegades through to the last-16 stage

ENCE came out on Mirage ready to turn the series around and claimed the pistol round in convincing fashion, without dropping a single player. Renegades gave up the next eco round and came fighting back, guns in hand, as Sean "Gratisfaction" Kaiwai and Liazz helped the team to overcome difficult situations in consecutive rounds.

The Finnish team was unfazed, though, and put together a string of rounds with a very tight defence. However, the latter stages of the final were all about Renegades, who dissected the ENCE defence with a variety of styles to bring the deficit to 7-8.

ENCE once again came out the brighter of the two sides, winning the pistol round and the following anti-ecos to build a four-round lead. But once they were able to buy up, Renegades took command of the contest, eventually retaking the lead at 14-13 off the back of a 1v2 clutch by Gratisfaction.

The Australian side went on to hit match point in an anti-eco round as ENCE prepared for one final push. The Finnish side still managed to take the game the full distance but faltered in the 30th round, which will force them to play at least one more match to get a spot in the next stage of the Major.

Everyone was foolish to doubt the renegods
2019-02-14 17:50
Doubt from not how good they are, but their history of failing at majors. Just like vega but the other way.
2019-02-14 17:56
They were very rarely favoured to actually make it Its not like they ever shit the bed or anything
2019-02-14 17:57
they have been favored many times.
2019-02-14 20:59
Faceit Major - rank 23, they go out in 20-22 Eleague major - rank 17, they go out 18th place Pgl major - rank 23, they go out in 20-22 Eleague major - rank 20, they go out 22-24 ESL major - rank 25, they go out 20-22 MLG major - rank 18, major they go out 16-20 I only looked for their ranking at the beginning of the month of the event so they might not all be right. But the moral is that as far back hltv rankings go, they haven't once failed to meet expectations The only time people were hopeful for Australian teams was in like 2015 and even then they were expected to lose their group Renegades has basically always been under the fringe of top 16 You're probably just parroting some shit you read on reddit because anyone who actually watched these events would have known God you're dumb
2019-02-14 21:52
god you're dumb. as vox they went to 2 majors in 2014, and 1 in 2015. as Renegades they made it to esl one colonge 2015. They were FAVORED to make it to all of them. For dreamhack cluj napoca 2015 they were almost a top 10 team and went 14-12 place at the qualifier. They were FAVORED to make it to that major. For ESL one colonge qualifier they weren't favored to make it through, but they still got wrecked by fluffy gangsters, which was a garbage team. At the pgl qualifier they lost to dignitas that had fox and tenzki, and tyloo. Both worse teams. In the 2018 eleauge major qualifier they choked against avangar to not get top 16. This looks to me like they were favored many times, and choked against teams that they shouldn't have lost to. You should know some stuff before you get all cocky about something. You can't say the old ones don't count because you yourself used ones as examples that only have azr and jks that are still on the team.
2019-02-14 22:15
as vox and with the switch to renegades they went to the majors meaning they didn't choke and therefore they are irrelevant to your argument. Like I said, even then they were never favored to make it out of groups. After 2015 the team went to shit and hadnt been decent again until earlier this year for dreamhack open youre fucking high mate because they had liquid and mousesports in their group, and THEY were teams on the fringe of the top 10 at the time, not fucking renegades. Them failing to make it out of that group was no fault of their own At cologne youre also full of shit because i remember fluffy gangsters being the only team they beat. Them losing to flipside and dignitas wasnt them choking, they were better teams at the time you fucking muppet. For fucks sake this was the major flipside made TOP 8. Renegades had a loss against splyce they fucked up but 1 map isnt enough to say they choked PGL was kind of a bad showing but flipside played well overall, and dignitas was a team of their level. The only team they fucked up with was tyloo For eleague, sure avangar was bad but keep in mind they would still have had to play liquid to go through, so ultimately i dont think it meant much when they just placed 18th instead of 17th. They also played fine overall So here we are after all those major quals they play 2 or 3 bad maps and you sit here saying they shit the bed plenty of times Literally none of what you are saying is correct. Your memory is obviously awful but youre so sure of yourself that you cant even bother googling to find out how wrong you are. Talk about getting cocky when you dont know something
2019-02-15 02:49
this discussion is about being favorited to go to major, not make it out of groups, so you can't dismiss there major showings as times when the they were favored to make it to the major. At the early majors they just had to play in region to go to major, not major qual.
2019-02-15 04:56
No what I'm saying is in those ones they were supposed to make it to the major, and they did, meaning they didn't shit the bed They were not favored to any of the times they didn't make it, meaning they didn't mess those up either
2019-02-15 13:23
had them 3-0 in my pick'ems easy for THE BOYS
