HLTV Confirmed ep. 7 VOD: controversial scheduling of Starladder's Major and a mid-IEM Katowice show

The seventh episode of HLTV Confirmed, which will largely revolve around the results of the first stage of IEM Katowice and an analysis of the second stage, is set to go live at 20:00 CET tonight.

Update: The VOD is now available:

After a pre-Major show in episode 6, HLTV Confirmed returns tonight with a look back at the results of the New Challengers Stage, which saw plenty of surprises over the course of the last week.

There's plenty to talk about when it comes to the results of the New Challengers Stage of IEM Katowice

The usual four-man panel will naturally look ahead into the New Legends Stage, where the eight teams who have made it through the first stage will join the current legends coming from the FACEIT Major.

But before we even reach the discussions around IEM Katowice, we will first take a look at the controversial scheduling of the recently announced Berlin Major, as it will start immediately after the end of the player break on August 20, which has been met with quite some criticism from the scene.

The main topics of the seventh episode will be:

- Starladder Major's scheduling
- Results of the IEM Katowice New Challengers Stage
- HLTV Confirmed does New Legends seeding
- Prof vs. Striker duel
- New Legends Stage analysis
- HLTV Confirmed does second round of Pick'Ems
- Top three of the week

You can tune in to Twitch.tv/HLTVorg at 20:00 to watch the episode live:

The VOD will be added to this article shortly after the show ends. Don't forget HLTV Confirmed is also available as a podcast on anchor.fm/hltv, where you can listen to it in your favorite app.

nice!

barely see it as an issue The 'player break' is not a legal holiday and has nothing to do with Valve The players need to schedule around the major and not the other way round
2019-02-18 19:11
The players don't have the choice. The leagues determine when the tournaments are

Agree, they are not in high school anymore waiting school hollidays in their mom house. Are the players complaining? Omegalul
2019-02-18 20:11
They are. If majors have seeds then in order for seeds to be accurate they can't be after a player break. Players been saying this.

Those players are studying in high school? As far as I know every T1 player didn't study anymore
2019-02-20 13:09
The players are complaining is what i was referring to. Every sport, 'e' or otherwise, has an off season and having the largest events of the year a week after the break means that they need to work and practice through the break if they want to be ready for it. So yes, and its a large enough deal that the players association (read union) is getting involved.
2019-02-20 13:27
How would you feel about an exam on day one after holidays? this is pretty much that They will have to practice 8 hours a day in holidays making it not much of a holiday anymore, They put a Major after a holiday is not some tier 3 online event.

Maybe I miss something but what scheduling controversial? It looks like the next Major is gonna be about 3 weeks earlier than London Major which is not a big deal. Katowice Major is a month later than previous Boston Major. So what? Slight change in schedule won't make a difference as long as it is announced in advance.
2019-02-18 19:15
I think in general people would prefer that the major be at the end of the season than at the start, and especially want to try playing some officials after the break Thats why you see teams showing up to these little bullshit 4 team tournaments and whatnot, they just want to play an event People want time to bootcamp before the majors sure, but it should be the season finale

To then it is not just a "game" as you call it. Its strategy, analisys and hard work. I get that placing a major right after the break is unfortunate. However, they are professionals and should be able to cope.
