FURIA, Luminosity, Sharks invited to DreamHack Open Rio

Three Brazilian teams will be in attendance at the $100,000 DreamHack Open event in Rio de Janeiro, the organizers have announced.

The eight-team tournament will be held at the Barra Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on April 19-21. DreamHack Open Rio will be the second international LAN to be held in Brazil in 2019, with BLAST Pro Series set to take place in São Paulo in March.

FURIA will get to play in front of their home crowd

FURIA have received one of the invites following their impressive Major campaign which saw them get to IEM Katowice's New Challengers Stage all the way from the North American open qualifiers.

Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato & company will be joined by Luminosity, who are currently ranked #29 after kicking off the year with a disappointing result at iBUYPOWER Masters, and Sharks, who have recently found themselves outside of the Top 30 in the World Ranking.

Sharks destroyed Norh and TyLoo 2-0 on lan and took a map from G2, that's more than enough to earn a invite.

LOL? They're been invited just because the tournament it will be in Brasil. Furia deserves, sharks and lg don't

Don't count LG out, they always perform at DreamHack's and on LAN. They always fall short online.

Sharks beat better teams on lan than FURIA ever did. Obviously they were invited because the tournament is in Brazil, and the HAD TO INVITE three BR teams. Their choices were correct, considering mibr couldn't attend.

Yeah they played by qualifying from the NA minor, where they beat teams like Envy and INTZ. Sharks beat North and TyLoo, way more proven teams. They also stole a map from G2.

Like if winning against North or TyLoo means anything. Anyone can win against North and back in PGL TyLoo had no coach and were still playing with washed up players.

It was enough to put them on the world's top 30 by HLTV for seven weeks, this proves how much it meant.
2019-02-20 01:05
Vega placed in the top 20 a lot of times and every time they played outside the major they couldn't win against tier 3 teams. Same with a lot of other teams, top 30 it's meaningless because Isurus is like top 130 and won against them 2-0.

I'm not talking about online results. Vega failed both in LAN and online tournaments So did Complexity So did QBF/Winstrike And so did a lot of other teams that were considered "upcoming" or "surprises".

Let me see their recent LAN results. 3-4th place at Cross Border eSports 2018 (Tier 3-4 tournament) 1st Famalicao Extreme Gaming 2018 (Tier 10 tournament with portuguese teams not even in Advanced) 1st OMEN Eurogamer CS:GO Challenger Porto 2018 (another tier 10 tournament with portuguese teams) 1st ESL LA League (BO5 final with probably the most scummy round reset in the history of professional CS:GO) 9-12th EPL S8 Finals (Won 2-0 against a shitty north after a 2-16 lose to MIBR and finally got eliminated 0-2 to Na'Vi) 3rd-4th PLG Grand Slam 2018 (Only decent result over tier 2-4 teams) online they can't win shit.

"Recent form" is considered to be the last 3 months.
2019-02-20 01:57
Yeah? SK; 2 months before Boston they had won EPL S6 Finals. Got eliminated by C9 and after that they fucking died. VP: 2 months before Boston they got 2 second places at big LAN events. Bombed out from the major in last place. Na'Vi: From winning a Blast Pro Series event, getting various 2nd places and play-off appearences to losing to North in a Tier 2 LAN event. Recent form is the past and never affects the present form of a team. Sharks might have been good recently, but there's no way to tell if they will be able to play well at a LAN with good teams, especially with their online results.
