Cloud9 spoil MIBR debut; Astralis overrun compLexity

Cloud9 and Astralis have picked up the final spots in the 1-0 pool in the New Legends Stage following convincing wins over MIBR and compLexity, respectively.

The final mainstream game of the first round brought what has become a classic in the Americas, but it was not the close game that many had expected as MIBR looked well off the pace in their first appearance with the new line-up.

The Brazilian team responded well to a pistol round loss and ran all over Cloud9's A defence in the third round with some stunning Desert Eagle kills. However, the North Americans quickly got back on their feet and shut down any chances of MIBR stringing rounds together or building an economy for the rest of the half, cruising to a commanding 12-3 lead.

Cloud9 were far too hot for MIBR to handle

More misery was to come for MIBR, who crumbled in the pistol round following a fast mid execute by Cloud9. With their spirits clearly broken, the Brazilians lost control of the A site in the first gun round, giving room for Timothy "autimatic" Ta to plant the bomb over in B before he clutched a 1v2 situation to end the game.

Over on the secondary stream, top seed Astralis made light work of compLexity on Nuke. Those watching certainly raised an eyebrow upon learning that the North Americans had not banned this map, a gamble that quickly backfired as they found themselves on the back foot early on despite taking the pistol round.

Down 1-9, compLexity found some breathing room after putting together a string of rounds, but then Astralis responded in an eco round thanks to three kills by Nicolai "device" Reedtz before Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen and Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth overturned a 2v5 situation to make it an 11-4 half.

Xyp9x shone in Astralis' demolition job of compLexity

Now on the CT side, Astralis won the opening four rounds of the half to hit match point. compLexity still attempted to reply, but two rounds were all they could muster as a quad-kill from Xyp9x put the game to rest.

I don't understand how anyone could think that mibr will win this. Mibr did not play with this lineup for years. There is a reason why they split up. Why would anyone think they are suddenly good again? They didn't even play any match and their fans predicted them to straight out win? lmfao i hope this is a wakeup call for all mibr fans.
2019-02-20 18:17
> m16r didnt play 1 match in months > m16r fans: MIBR WIN MAJOR KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK MIBR_IS_OVERRATED
2019-02-20 18:18
Everyone ripping on complexity doesnt realize they left nuke in so they could start on the ct side and not have a totally demoralizing score line It didnt really work and they were bound to lose the map, but its not like they played that badly MIBR on the other hand my god what a bad team. Complexity played astralis, the best team in the world on their best map, and still had a closer game than mibr did against 2 players picked out of the EU dumpster and an MDL player

I know this gonna happen when they get back to the old line up. Its that kind of feel when you try to get back to your ex girlfriend and start all over again, but only to realize why it doesnt work in the first place.
2019-02-20 18:20
I think the worst thing is fallen kind of lost his mojo with that NA lineup. Their t side looked totally dead and its no secret this team doesnt have the best firepower in the world anymore However, it was just one map and their first in months so I'm not going to make too many serious judgements quite yet oh and one more thing I forgot - remember which map is was that was fucking up the old sk lineup left and right?

MIBR are just cold rn, like getting out of bed. C9 have played more games and are sufficiently warmed up. I still think MIBR will progress.
2019-02-20 18:20
It’s possible, but i don’t see them being anywhere near a top team this major
2019-02-20 18:29
Yeah, I wouldn't really go with the "this lineup is done because they played before and had problems" route. The players are different from how they were in that team. Although they still have to figure out how felps and fer can work together, I do think this lineup could be better than the Brazilian-American mix. With all of that being said, it is absurd to think that this lineup would be able to do anything substantial at this Major whatsoever.
2019-02-20 18:21
+1, if they make out of the swiss stage, it will be already sooooo impressive. But most likely they will go out in the swiss stage.

You Cloud9 fanboy. Give me ONE reason RIGHT NOW you absolute m**on of a human being as to why we should not be sleeping on Cloud9 because the fact of the matter is if you watched them perform at that event - if you opened your GODDAMN eyes that your mother you - err, f***ing, vagina and you watched that game of Counter Strike, and you used an objective style of counter - of watching anything you stupid f*ck you could see that they didn't actually play ANYTHING worth convincing. They played scrimmy CS - do they have individuals that can perform well? Is that gonna win you games against the best teams in the f**king world? NO ITS NOT. So unless they're gonna turn things a complete fucking 180 around, Cloud9 are not gonna make top 8 bro, so just go back to being a Cloud9 fanboy and spamming all your stupid bullshit in twitch chat, cuz you gotta open your f**king eyes you have to watch the game for what it is and stop being - err having bias. This is what people need to stop doing in the whole world: STOP being biased at things because you're part of a tribe or fanclub. Start actually THINKING. If you want to be OBJECTIVE if you want to make decisions in life, you need to use your F**KING EYES and use your brain. Stop being morons, I'm FED UP with these c*nts tweeting shit at me when they're just, ABSOLUTELY closed-minded idiots. LUL
