K23 to miss WESG Finals due to visa issues
Kazakhstani mix team K23 will not compete at the upcoming WESG World Finals due to visa issues, it has been announced.
The announcement was made on social media by Sanzhar "neaLaN" Iskhakov's team, Syman, who explained that "difficulties in obtaining a visa to China and a busy schedule of team players" will see the mix roster miss the event.
However, a Kazakhstani WESG representative told HLTV.org that the reason behind K23's last-minute withdrawal was because FaZe did not wish to lose Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev for over a week for the event as they begin preparations for their next tournament, BLAST Pro Series São Paulo.
Headlined by the Major-winning trio of AdreN, Abay "Hobbit" Khasenov and Rustem "mou" Telepov, K23 had qualified for the event after winning the Central Asia qualifier over Kyrgyzstani side NorBant.
The news means that Group C is now down to just two teams, MIBR and AGO, after Isurus also withdrew from the tournament, citing visa issues and the inability to field their current roster, featuring Uruguayan player Maximiliano "max" Gonzalez.
Running from March 11-17 in Chongqing, China, the WESG World Finals will have $890,000 on the line. The groups for the competition currently look as follows:
