ECS Season 7 Pinnacle Cup top seeds determined
forZe and Valiance finished top of the ECS S7 Challenge Cup Swiss group in Europe, while Singularity and INTZ managed the same in North America, securing the highest seeds going into the next stage of the tournament.
The European Pinnacle Cup for both Europe and North America featured 16 teams, eight invited and eight qualified ones, which were placed in a BO3 Swiss system group. The Pinnacle Cup served to determine the order in which Pinnacle Cup teams would be used to fill any potential vacant slots in the five regular-season ECS Season 7 tournaments.
Even though there are still few matches to be played out in both regions, the top seeds—teams that finished 3-0 in the Swiss system—have already been determined.
On the European side of things, forZe and Valiance went through undefeated. The Russian squad didn't drop a single map in the three BO3s, and only allowed their opponents—x6tence Galaxy, Movistar Riders, and AGO—to reach 10 rounds on a single map. Valiance was convincing in their run as well, defeating x-kom, Windigo, and AVANGAR, but they were challenged a bit more in the latter two BO3s.
In North America, Vito "kNgV-" Giuseppe's INTZ started off the Swiss stage against Pujan "FNS" Mehta's Old Guys Club, and managed to come back and win the series 2-1 after losing Inferno. The Brazilians then took down Party Astronauts and Denial to keep a perfect, 3-0 record. Singularity was tested significantly more on their run towards the top of the North American rankings, as all three series they won—against Mythic, Bad News Bears, and FURIA—, went all three maps.
With these results, the aforementioned 3-0 teams are in the queue for a place in one of the regular-season, $25,000 ECS Season 7 tournaments.
The eight spots in the cups will first be offered to the eight teams that finished on top of ECS S6 in their respective regions, then to the two bottom-placed (relegation) teams from ECS S6, and after them, to the ECS S7 Pinnacle Cups teams, according to their final placement.
