ESL reveals Pro League S9 Europe, Americas schedule
ESL has announced the schedule for the regular season of Pro League Season 9 in Europe and in the Americas.
In both regions, action will start on April 12 with the first group stage, featuring four groups of four teams. The group winners will automatically progress to the season finals, while the runners-up and third-placed sides will be placed in a second group stage.
Kicking off May 14, the second stage will see eight teams split into two groups. In Europe, the top two sides from both groups will qualify for the offline event, bringing the region's team count to eight (one more than in the previous two seasons).
In the Americas, only the group winners will progress to the season finals as the region has been allocated just six places in the main tournament, one fewer than in seasons 7 and 8, in which North America had six slots and South America had its own qualifying tournament called ESL LA League.
More details about the format of the group stages and the relegation and promotion systems will soon be announced by ESL. The European matches will be hosted offline at the ESL studio in Leicester, while the Americas clashes will be played at an as-yet undisclosed location in the United States.
