Huge gameplay update adjusts loss bonus reset, AUG price & M4A1-S magazine

A substantial gameplay update has just been shipped to CS:GO, which most importantly addresses the loss bonus reset, reverts the AUG's price back to $3,300, and increases magazine size of the M4A1-S to further develop weapon diversity.

After adjusting the post-pistol round economy, Valve have once again addressed the loss bonus, this time creating a new system that works the same way both ways: losing a round increases the "loss counter" by one, while winning a round decreases it by one instead of resetting it completely, as had been the case up until now.

This should help teams come back from long losing streaks, as they no longer get "hard-reset" once they trade the following two rounds with their opponent.

The newest update could see some of the AUG's biggest proponents revert back to one of the alternatives

Another important change of the latest update addresses the AUG, whose use has seen a meteoric rise over the past few months since its price was reduced to $3,150, as it costs $3,300 again. Meanwhile, its less used alternative, the M4A1-S, is now more appealing to use as it has received five extra bullets per magazine.

Further changes aimed at increasing weapon diversity include the reduction of prices of most of the shotguns, namely the Nova (now costing $1,050), Sawed-Off ($1,100), and MAG-7 ($1,300).

The developers have notably added flashbang assists to the assist count, as well, which now appear in the death notices as long as the kill wasn't also assisted by dealing over 40 damage.

The full changelog of the update can be seen below:

[GAMEPLAY]
Adjusted round loss bonuses with the goal of reducing a negative feedback loop following streaks of losses.
– Round loss bonuses are now based on the count of a team’s round losses. The count increases by one after every loss, and decreases by one after every win (minimum 0).
— With 0 Losses: $1400
— With 1 Loss: $1900
— With 2 Losses: $2400
— With 3 Losses: $2900
— With 4+ Losses: $3400
– Previously, a win would reset the round loss bonus. Now, a win reduces the loss counter by one.
– Teams still begin the half with a loss count of 1.
– This is enabled by default and can be controlled using the mp_consecutive_loss_aversion server setting.
– The round loss bonus is still limited to mp_consecutive_loss_max multiplied by cash_team_winner_bonus_consecutive_rounds.

– Added flashbang assists for players who successfully flash an enemy which then gets killed by another player. Players who threw the flashbang will get an assist callout in the death notice. However if another player inflicted >40 damage to the victim for the assist, the flashbang assist player will not get the callout.

– AUG
— Now that players have had an opportunity to learn to love the AUG, returning the weapon to its original price of $3300.
– M4A1-S
— The M4A1-S now holds 25 bullets in the magazine, and has 75 in reserve.
– Shotguns
— Price reduction for some shotguns: Nova ($1050), Sawed-Off ($1100), Mag7 ($1300).
— Nova penetration increased to 1.
— Sawed-Off range increased to 1400.
— Single shell shotguns in the middle of their reload sequence will no longer automatically continue to reload after a player holsters and deploys them.
– Fixed a bug that prevented C4 or enemies seen through open doors from showing up on the radar.
– Fixed a rare bug where a C4 bomb reset trigger could reset the bomb to a position that was not on the ground.

[PRISMA CASE]
– Introducing the Prisma Case, featuring 17 community-designed weapon finishes, and the Horizon Knives in Chroma finishes as rare special items.

[MISC]
– New Loadout Shuffle feature is available in the inventory. Choose to shuffle any number of your weapons or music kits and a random one will be equipped each map.
– Several fixes for the ‘Clean Names’ communication setting.
– Renamed workshop workbench setting to ‘Side View’.
– Removed visual artifacts on a few image assets.

[MAPS]

Canals:
– reduced number of routes around bombsite B
– moved bombsite B inside the palace
– added a door from center stairs to courtyard platform
– made it possible to jump up to B bridge from scaffold
– new radar map style

Vertigo:
– Thank you to all the diligent players that continued testing Bombsite B
– Blocked runboost from T spawn to Bombsite B (will still be possible in B site configuration)
– Obstructed boost from top of floodlight in back of A
– Changed layout of back of A site, made entrance onto site a regular doorway, added half-wall in front of scaffolding
– Added usable door in mid towards bombsite B
– Simplified collision model of support jack
– Fixed unintended boost on scaffolding on A ramp
– Made boostable concrete mold by A site slightly larger
– Improved clipping inside elevator shaft

The AUG was always considered strong and a lot of pros used it in certain positions. The P90 in the other hand is for noobs, bad players. It can be useful if defending on a bombsite like B cache alone if you're playing against eco/force players. Otherwise it's bad and ineffective, both economically and mechanically, it's a 2300€ gun that has a 300€ rpk.

Wrong. Using P90 on B Cache is stupid. It's easy to counter even with pistols. P90 on Dust2 B is great. I'm using the P90 often. I see many trying the P90 and they don't succeed. It's because you have to understand the weapon. Same as with any other weapon in CSGO. P90 = Pro90 =/= noob. If you can't play the P90, you're a noob. That's the only correct way to see it. It's great for burst fire on head. When you aim at head and fire, all it takes is 1-2 bullets for kill. You don't even have to drag crosshair downwards for first 3-4 bullets because there's negligible recoil for first 3-4 bullets (atleast in medium-long range). Ofc it won't suit players who like to spray and get headshots because of its lower ROF. But it's accuracy and lesser recoil suits players depending on aim more than spray.

why not? Full resets doesn't make sense to me. Now you'll see more complex economy game. You'll be able to take the risk more but it will have to be more calculated and players will have to be more aware instead of running and gunning defenseless usps/glocks with smgs. Antiecos/ecos now will play much more important role in the game. It will make game more interesting and complex. Also pistol rounds are still giving to massive of the advantage even after 1900$ loss bonus. Skill should matter more than it mattered and valve finally figured out how to add it to the game while still preserving everything that is good about cs. Wonderful update.

I feel like if X player flash assist his teammate, and that shows on kill feed, the enemies would know that X player is playing on A/B bombsite. 2. Enemies can know if a player is alone on one position and he flashed himself and got a kill, or if he got assisted by his teammate, and there are two enemies playing kinda close to each other...

teams already lose track sometimes because it's hard to factor in all of the kills and unless one guy gets picked off early and does all the math mid round (which i highly doubt all of them actually do) there's no much time to figure out this stuff anyway. i suppose after a while ppl will just develop a feeling to when their opponents can or cannot buy but i suspect this could turn into a clusterfuck in a game with a lot of swings.

It is a good update. Quite a lot one-sided half (10-5,11-4) do not reflect the strength of both sides. Usually, it is caused only by two or three resets and the losing side cannot fight back due to lack of weaponry and utilities.

Thank god. I played for the first time in a while last weekend, and holy shit, that AUG made CT invincible. You could just scope, hold Angle, relax, and shit comfortably when T is in your sight. You don’t even feel proud after a quick 4k. I just felt dirty.

It can tell you how CT or T are setup... If you have people flashing for you and they get the 'flash assist' when people die you will know more clearly who's at each site. Let's take Cache, you have someone CT truck flash two people into A main. If CT trucks gets the flash assists and you see two other people take A main control you know there is only 1 B. The whole idea of it has not been thought through for competitive play.

You don't need an indicator to understand that there are 3 people on a site if you see 2 people running in together with a flash behind them. If you can't spot the players in beforehand you can't tell if the flash was thrown by one of the two players who's entering the site or not. At least not before you kill one of them. It's the same thing with assist, that haven't changed the meta in any way.

Who's to say the flash wasn't thrown by the two who pushed? It's not hard to pop flash yourself into A main... The purpose of my comment, is the information can still be important to the opposition and there is no denying that. It may not 'change the meta' but doesn't mean the game isn't impacted.

Exactly, that's really hard to know, so I doubt it will have any impact. But it's hard to know without seeing it in effect. At least as a spectator I think it is a really nice feature.

should have been closer to $3500/$3600... one flashbang isn’t a big deal... losing a smoke/molly is way more impactful on the round.

the AUG was originally 3.5k in (early) GO and 1.6. Now that the gun is actually worth using, I wonder if people would buy it at that price point.
