StarSeries Season 7 match-ups, schedule released

StarLadder has announced the initial match-ups and the complete schedule for the upcoming StarSeries event.

Kicking off Saturday in Shanghai, the StarSeries event will feature 16 top teams from all over the world. who will be squaring off for the lion's share of a $500,000 prize pool - a record fee in the history of the competition.

The tournament will begin with a best-of-three Swiss stage that will run until Wednesday, with the top eight sides progressing to the single-elimination playoffs, which will culminate with a best-of-five final on April 7 at 10:00.

NiP will go up against fnatic in an all-Swedish clash

The pairing for the first Swiss round has produced some mouth-watering clashes, most notably a Swedish derby between fnatic and NiP, and an Asian classic between TYLOO and Renegades.

IEM Katowice Major runner-up ENCE will be taking on Spirit, who will be attending their first LAN event with Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov and Artem "iDISBALANCE" Egorov. Natus Vincere will be fancying their chances of a 1-0 start after being paired with Rogue, who will be attending the event with the line-up with which they secured qualification despite the fact that the players have gone their separate ways.

Because of this Swiss format that is being used in most of the tournaments atm. I don't really enjoy it compared to other formats. For example you are going to have Astralis most of the times in Swiss round 1 up against a north-american team top 40 or maybe a Chinese weaker team. In this match-up it is quite unfair for the underdog. I like the normal Swiss format the most actually!

Who ever from NaVi, ENCE, or FaZe won't end up final will (and should) be disappointed. On the other hand, North, NRG, RNG, BIG or Vitality in final would not be a big surprise.
2019-03-25 18:08
lol faze in 2019, hope u are kidding bro
2019-03-25 18:25
I am considering the competition here. They should be able to get to final, especially if they manage to dodge NaVi and ENCE.
2019-03-25 18:26
I think there are many similar level teams to what faze has lately shown...
2019-03-25 18:27
Faze has been awful recently. NiP and Renegades are both more likely than FaZe imo
2019-03-25 22:11
Realistically yes, but from their own expectation point of view, FaZe should get the final.
2019-03-25 22:20

2019-03-25 18:22
Liquid havent been consistent enough to be considered astralis tier. Plenty of these teams can beat liquid on a good day. Astralis >>> Liquid > Ence = Navi = Renegades (if still playing like did at major) > NiP = Faze
