Renegades overcome TYLOO; FaZe defeat paiN at StarSeries
Renegades grabbed a fast 5-0 start on the T-side of Inferno, TYLOO's map pick, before the Chinese-Indonesian side could get their first one on the board. TYLOO wasn't able to follow it up, though, losing a 1v3 to Justin "jks" Savage on the B bombsite, and the Australian star started warming up. His side continued to dominate for the rest of the Terrorist half, losing just one round before switching to the CT side 13-2 up.
jks continued his reign of terror on the defense, grabbing a 4K in the pistol, but that wasn't enough for his side to close it out, allowing TYLOO a way back into the game. Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand and co. hit a seven-round streak right out of the gates, but that was again stopped by jks's 3K. TYLOO didn't let down the pressure though and the game went down to the wire, only for it to be decided with a pistol-armor buy from Renegades, who locked down B at 15-13 and then converted on the match point.
On Dust2, TYLOO claimed the first two rounds as CTs, but Renegades were contesting throughout and eventually broke through in round three as jks cleaned up the 3v3, with the Australian side taking a 6-3 lead following a 1v3 clutch by Sean "Gratisfaction" Kaiwai on B. However, it was Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad who was pulling most of the weight for Renegades, who were 10-4 up when TYLOO claimed the last round of the half with a double AWP setup.
Going 7-2 at the start of their Terrorist side got TYLOO back into the game (12-11), but they couldn't equalize the scoreline as Renegades locked down B, following that round up with Aaron "AZR" Ward denying BnTeT's 1v3 clutch attempt on A. The Australian IGL stepped up in the last round of the game as well, picking up an AUG triple to finish the game, 16-13, and secure the series for his squad.

Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt claimed the T side pistol round for paiN on Inferno with four P250 frags, setting the underdogs up for a 3-0 start. Standing in for Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács, YNk stepped up in the first rifle round with an M4A4 triple, and together with Håvard "rain" Nygaard helped FaZe stabilize on the defensive side (5-3).
paiN's first rifle round won was countered by a quad-kill Apartments lockdown by Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer, which was followed by a series of rounds being traded back and forth. That left FaZe's economy in tatters, and they were able to end the first half with just a minimal, 8-7 lead. Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, who was struggling at the start of the game, looked reinvigorated in the second half, pushing his team to a significant lead (13-8) after some close round wins. The Brazilian side had a comeback attempt at the end, the big dogs managed to close out the series 16-12 in the end.
The start to Mirage was scrappy, with force-buy wins both sides, but FaZe was the team to stabilize after NiKo clutched a 1v3 on A in round 5. The European mixture soon took a 7-2 lead following another big round from NiKo on the AWP, resolving a 2v2 afterplant with some decisive shots. biguzera was the key to paiN winning three rounds in a row in the latter part of the half, eventually finishing it 6-9 down.
FaZe lost the second pistol of Mirage, but NiKo's heroics bailed them out again as the Bosnian nailed down four with the Scout on the following force buy. The Europeans ran up a 15-8 lead quickly as paiN tried, unsuccessfully, to bully YNk on B. The Brazilians then finally broke into B, but they still lost the following anti-eco, with NiKo putting the final nail in the coffin with a USP-S frag.
