Heroic win GG.BET Sydney Invitational to qualify for IEM event

Heroic have secured themselves a spot at IEM Sydney 2019 after defeating forZe 2-0 in the grand final of the GG.BET Sydney Invitational.

Heroic booked their place in the grand final of the tournament by taking down Sprout, Winstrike, and Virtus.pro in Group B before going on to beat semi-final invitee ex-3DMAX. forZe, on the other hand, became the Danes' opponents after progressing 3-1 in Group A and taking down the other invitee, OpTic, in the semi-finals.

forZe kicked off the first map on Nuke with a three-round lead, but Heroic soon found their footing through numerous opening kills from their AWPer, Daniel "mertz" Mertz. The Danish side went on to post ten rounds consecutively, eventually closing out the half 11-4. The deficit proved too much for the Russian side, with Heroic wrapping up the map 16-13.

Mertz and co. will be attending IEM Sydney

The second map in the series, Mirage, saw Heroic start on the CT-side. The two teams could barely be separated with a competitive first half finishing 8-7 in the Danes' favour. forZe still tried to get back in the game with a three-round streak, restoring parity at 10-10, but the Nordic side ran riot after that and locked down the map at 16-11.

Må også bare indrømme at de ikke har skiftet ud i roster som alle andre. De bliver mere og spillet sammen fordi de ikke skifter ud hele tiden. Det er som om mange andre organisationer ikke kan se det endnu. +1 😉

They haven’t been changing roster in a long time as many other organizations. That’s why they play so well together due to the fact of less changing. +1

I agree, but I really like friberg as a person. I hope Heroic can improve with him but if one has to go, it’s him

He does seem a great guy, but c'mon, that's the same situation with get_right. No doubt they are legends, but both are avoiding their teams to fly higher

I agree, his history is somewhat the reason for him still being there . He’s probably doing fine since they didn’t replace him with another danish player yet. Remember that 2.0 ratings doesn’t necessarily represent his impact on the team. However, which player do you think could be a great replacement?

i'm not really into the danish scene, but maybe one of the ex-fragsters? too bad dragonfly (stavn's brother) is an awper. But anyway, pretty much any young skilled danish should do wonders
