MIBR invited to ESL One Cologne
MIBR have accepted an invitation to attend ESL One Cologne, the event’s organisers have announced.
The Brazilian side will return to Cologne hoping to repeat their success from the 2016 and 2017 iterations of the event under the SK banner after going out 7th-8th at last year's tournament following a 1-2 defeat to BIG in the group's lower bracket final.
MIBR, who are currently ranked sixth in the world, recently finished second in their group in ESL Pro League Americas with a 2-1 record and will have to fight for their tournament life in the second group stage of the tournament.
The two-time Major champions are the sixth team confirmed for ESL One Cologne, with six more invitees yet to be announced. The remaining four slots will be claimed by teams from the regional qualifiers in North America, Asia, and Europe.
ESL One Cologne will kick off on July 2, with the playoffs taking place July 5-7 at the Lanxess Arena, where the team taking the lion's share of the $300,000 prize pool will be determined.
