Grayhound eliminate FaZe, fnatic knock out Chiefs

Grayhound have eliminated FaZe from IEM Sydney with a 2-1 victory, while fnatic knocked out Chiefs 2-1, with the two winning sides set to meet in Group B's lower bracket final.

The first two series of the day saw two elimination matches take place in Group B's lower bracket semi-finals, with the main stream featuring FaZe versus Grayhound.

The Australian side picked Inferno as the first map and got off to a good start despite losing the pistol round, with some solid entrying from Christopher "dexter" Nong and Erdenetsogt "erkaSt" Gantulga putting them in a 5-2 lead on the Terrorist side. FaZe responded with four in a row, courtesy of three multikills from Håvard "rain" Nygaard, before the two sides went back and forth to end the half 8-7 in favor of the European team.

Ollie "DickStacy" Tierney's quad-kill equalized the scoreline in the second half, but Grayhound couldn't capitalize on the pistol round win while FaZe ran away with another four-round streak for 12-8. From there on, however, the defense looked impenetrable, as the Australian team went on a huge 8-0 run, turning around a couple of 3v5 situations to add insult to injury en route to a 16-12 win on the opening map.

Grayhound take down FaZe

Dust2 followed with FaZe looking determined to equalize the series, conceding just one out of the first seven rounds on the defense. Grayhound stepped up in the latter portion of the first half, but they still found themselves trailing 5-10 after facing a troublesome double-AWP setup from Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács and Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer.

Janko "YNk" Paunović's men quickly reached 13 rounds after rain's quad-kill gave them the second pistol round, and although Grayhound put up a valiant effort to come back from the big deficit, FaZe eventually came out victorious at 16-12.

The deciding Overpass saw Grayhound put together a solid offense after they lost the pistol round, with DickStacy finding key openings to keep his team in control and head over to the favored defense at 9-6. Adding a pistol round on top, the Australians were up 11-6 and they looked to finish off the upset when the two teams split the next six rounds. There was still life left in FaZe, who took the match to all 30 rounds on the decider, but clutch play from erkaSt in the last round sealed the deal at 16-14, 2-1.

In the other Australian-European battle, another potential upset was brewing. fnatic got away with the better start on Dust2, leading 5-0 on the offense, but it was Chiefs who ended up with the advantage at halftime on the back of a strong run led by Chris "ofnu" Hanley.

The Swedes closed the gap with a second-round break on the defense, at one point holding a 13-11 lead, but they were unable to close it out despite the advantage, with Chiefs running out victorious at 16-14.

fnatic move on to Group B's lower bracket final

fnatic entered Mirage with another early lead on the T side, but it got away from them once again, with Chiefs stepping up after getting off to a 1-5 start. The Australian team ended up securing the better half, with 8-7 to their name, but it soon slipped away when the Swedish squad got to the defense. Ryan "zewsy" Palmer's team were unable to break through and fnatic ran away with a 16-9 win to level the series.

When it came to Inferno, fnatic were in the driving seat from the start, with a dominant CT side putting them in a 13-2 lead. A pistol round going the way of their opponents was the only thing holding Jesper "JW" Wecksell's team back, with fnatic coming out victors 16-4, 2-1

Big is not doing too well. And gobb has been putting in below average rating so it's not entirely impossible for big clan to sell off gobb. Try to be little more intellectual before acting as a smart ass on internet.. No hate just an advice for ur future comments on hltv.

Hmmm, I feel like you're the one who is acting as a "smart ass" right now. Lets just look back at BIG's history: What i really like about them is they dont do "panic" roster changes after 3 months of unsuccessfull games. Instead they stick to the lineup and try to get better as a team because they know that they can only get better, if they can correct the mistakes they did as a team, which dont work if you bring a new man in, cuz then you will get new problems you have to deal with. Again their history shows it perfectly what they do if things are not going well --> they dont change the roster, they try out stuff inside the team. gobb is know as a very patient IGL, who wants to achieve something with a team he built and the org itself relies and trust him. And no, please dont talk about stats, thats definetely not an argument here. Sure he is not a startplayer (cuz hes an IGL) but hes also not a low fragging player who does lose every duel. So please, try to be a bit more intellectual and think a little bit more before you try to expose someone. Again, no hate, just an advice for ur future comments on hltv;)
2019-05-03 19:16
U got owned and now u trynna write an essay to me?? Lmao. And btw He is indeed one of the lowest fragger igls. And u can't say big totally believes in him unless of course u work in "big"organisation urself. U r being subjective but trying to make all ur claims sound like facts.. That's why boy u use maybe/perhaps when u r not sure of a fact like i did. U definitely have lower IQ than i expected. No offence

Wait your last post didnt contain a single argument. Try to argue at first instead of insulting someone. You told me to be intellectual but wth are you just wrote? Thats the opposite of intellectual. Please make an adult comment. The reason why i wrote an essay is that i try to defend my opinion with arguments. You know... that's what grown ass people do, instead just insulting. You had a single argument that's it. And that was his stats. I had like 10 arguments but you dont even try to prove them wrong with other arguments. No instead you insult me. Please we are not children anymore. Discuss / argue with me or dont comment to me anymore. BTW, those claims i did with how BIG and gobb thinks and operating --> I read interviews outside of hltv. Thats where i get those infos. Those are facts so please don't just expose someone AGAIN that he's lying. That's very rude and I'm really concerned that you would betray many many people in real life by just lying. Please be a nice guy and as you said, try to be intellectual. No offence.

No youre sad. You clearly dont know how cs works. You only see the toplevel of cs containing insane aim and thats it. There is a lot more than that m8. But ofc i cant expect more of someone who lives in a country where their top cs-lineup was with a rifler with insane aim --> forsaken Use a little bit more brain, there is a reason why faze / Ynk decided that they know more about the team and how they work than you.

Ofc I know how it works I have no problem with ynk. adren is the problem Faze got many options for stand ins and they should think about it So rather than taking you replies related country , just talk what the real thing is Niko not in this tournament is a big upset but what are the other 4 doing they should perform like a top5 team and ynk is leading them they should focus on the natural game Instead they wobbled against grayhound which was totally unexpected

i apologise for the country related joke (however since youre most comments were troll/bait comments i dont feel guilty about it). What you're saying is kinda true but faze is still not liquid or astralis. Faze is a team which heavily relies on their firepower (more than liquid or astralis), so taking away their biggest firepower is big nerf for them. But i agree on Adren not doing what he should do but replacing him with ustilo shortterm without having even 2 days practice wouldnt be the solution since you cant teach him in such a short amount of time how he should play the role. And Niko was the guy who was leading ingame so you cant replace him that easily in a rly short amount of time so ynk stepped in. So youre statement with "Faze got many options for stand ins and they should think about it" is just wrong. Think about it.

At least, I'm not an immature dumbass like you who thinks he's edgy af. Also FAZE Clan's achievements are not your own achievements. 2019-05-02 07:45
Even without Niko, Faze tried their best. We got able to see GodRain. GGWP. - Adren is imminent. The guy just doesn't have any impact. That last round hurt though as a faze fan

So will niko come for party or nah??
2019-05-02 07:59
Faze should of kept USTILLO instead of keeping Ynk. They would of easily made it out of groups. Not even sure why Ynk stayed in to be honest.

How about a coach tho instead of a full blown igl but shit player
2019-05-02 09:27
Coaches can't continuously communicate with players. It's not a pug where u just need 5 aimers. Ynk knows how faze plays, their strats etc. Ustillo doesn't. He shined against tier3 team in the most basic map as far as strats go i.e. Dust2. I don't think team chemistry would have been good enough with ustillo for faze to win best of 3s against teams like grayhound let alone nrg. Still they lost anyway but it was a good try and right approach.

Ranked 50 on hltv Saying Tier3 is overestimating them. Btw by tier3 i meant chiefs, against which ustilo performed.

I think that it is mandatory to use the coach as a player if theres only one player unable play.

today YNk was doing his worst performance. but, I understand his role in team. He shows Great Performance against NRG tho retired as pros many years ago. Well played such under pressure.
2019-05-02 08:05
Adren was the problem. The guy has almost 0 impact. I don't remember any multikills from him except one on overpass b bombsite.
