MIBR lock down ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals spot

MIBR have defeated Renegades in a match for first place in Group A of ESL Pro League Season 9 Americas' second group stage, with a 2-0 victory in the series pushing the Brazilian side to the Finals in Montpellier.

The series for first place in second group stage's Group A began on Mirage, with Renegades getting off on the right foot with a pistol round victory on the Terrorist side. MIBR pulled off a forcebuy win and the two teams continued to trade rounds back and forth until it was 2-2, when the Brazilian side started to gain the upper hand.

From there on, the opening map looked out of Renegades' hands. They struggled to put the bomb down and even when they did, MIBR came in with a comfortable retake, dispatching of their opponents time and time again for a dominant, 13-2 half. Only the pistol round separated Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's squad from sealing the deal, which they did after surviving a couple of desperate forcebuy attempts from the Australian side, clinching a landslide 16-2 victory.

MIBR beat Renegades to the spot at the Finals

Train followed, and soon became a different scenario entirely. MIBR got off to the better start again, with another second-round break earning them a 4-1 lead on the T side, but this time Renegades struck back on the back of key openings and multikills from Owen "smooya" Butterfield, which saw the score equalize at 5-5.

The two sides went blow for blow until the end of the half and Renegades were the ones to take the one-round advantage, in the end. That did not last long, however, as MIBR strung together the first five rounds of the second half, with Fernando "fer" Alvarenga playing a key role in a couple of retakes in the first gunrounds.

Aaron "AZR" Ward's team still made things interesting after replying with the next three rounds, while a 1v2 from Epitacio "TACO" de Melo in another retake saw MIBR inch closer to victory. Eventually, that was the key to closing out the series, as MIBR came out on top at 16-14, 2-0.

Well some posts talk about tier 4 teams like Movistar Riders and they still talk about MiBR. The topic of the post can be literally bananas, there will always be a guy talking about MiBR

The 2016/17 era, when Luminosity won the 2 majors of that year and when SK won 8 tournaments in 2017. You probably didn't know this because you must be a Astralis fanboy who thinks that they've dominated the entire scene since 2013
2019-05-17 19:40
i dont like astralis m8. i mean i respect their game, but thats all. but sk never had an era imo... as in, dominating the scene for a significant period of time. but sk was pretty dope with back2back majors. credit where credit is due ;)
2019-05-17 22:00
HLTVisNotReal lol hahahah
2019-05-17 23:16
But man, this is literally that Astralis was doing in 2018, dominating the scene for a significant period of time =|. If Atralis had an era SK|Luminosity surely had too

Not really, MiBR need to win the last week to secure ECS finals. Only if the finals be MiBR x Spacestation they dont need to win.
2019-05-17 04:57
IF THEY GO TO THE FINALS THEY WILL SUM 17.000 POINTS. (12.000 + 5.000) FURIA has 17.000 (qualified) NRG has 15.250 (qualified) DO THE MATH SMART ASS.
2019-05-17 05:06
OR EVEN BETTER.. MIBR ONLY NEEDS TO BEAT SINGULARITY AND MOVE TO SEMI-FINALS. 3rd-4th place Is enough, since 4 team are qualified and only the champion could overtake MIBR.

Ta falando merda eim. Se INTZ ou LG chegarem na final( e a MIBR não chegar), A MIBR não passa. Se INTZ, LIQUID ou LG ganharem, a MIBR não passa.
2019-05-17 08:37
Carlos Alberto Brilhante Ustra, MIBR have to win Week 5. MiBR have currently 12,000. If they get 2nd place, then they will have 12,000 + 5,000. Liquid and other teams (LG, INTZ) already have +5,000, i.e., if they get the 1st spot of the last week they will have gotten more than 17,000, as MiBR would have at max. 17,000 (if they manage to get 2nd). They have to win.

no wonder you're stupid considering your name INTZ, LG and Liquid have more than 5.000, so if they beat MIBR at the finals they get 12.000 more and therefore the spot in the lan finals

a mibr precisa vencer a semana 5 e se a mibr foi vice pra liquid, eles passam, porque a liquid vai ter 17750 e a mibr 17000, pois a liquid jogou outra semana e fez 750.
