pro100 and Unique lock CIS Minor closed qualifier spots
The first CIS Minor open qualifier has come to an end with pro100 and Unique advancing to the closed part.
The first open qualifier ahead of the CIS Minor took place over the last two days, with over 256 teams signed up for the first regional step towards the StarLadder Major.
pro100 were among the biggest favorites of the tournament from the start after they missed out on a direct invite to the closed qualifier, and they flew past the competition on the way to the spot-deciding semi-final stage.
There, they went up against Warthox in a best-of-three series to determine one of the spots in the closed part. Although Dust2 looked dangerous for Ivan "AiyvaN" Semenets & co. at one point after they gave up a 5-1 lead, pro100 put together a stellar offense to win the opening map 16-13 and they had little trouble on Inferno, securing the series 16-8, 2-0.
On the other side of the bracket, Unique passed the test after taking down OwmS, featuring Sergey "starix" Ischuk and Dmitry "hooch" Bogdanov, as well as Nikita "waterfaLLZ" Matveyev's EXTREMUM in a comfortable series to lock the second spot.
With three more open qualifiers to go, taking place on May 27-June 3, the team list for the closed qualifier looks as follows:
