EU Minor Open Qualifier 2 day one over; top 16 teams found

The first day of the second Open Qualifier for the Europe Minor has been concluded, and you can see how it developed within this post.

With Sprout and NoChance making it to the Closed Qualifier on Sunday, six more European teams are left to be found, two of which will be determined through the Europe Minor Open Qualifier 2 which started today at 17:00 .

Top 30 teams in the qualifier are AGO (ranked 27th in the world) and Tricked (28th), but the likes of Aristocracy, Movistar Riders, Epsilon and GamerLegion will also be hoping for a deep run.

22:43 Aristocracy and Tricked fall short again

Two of the highest ranked teams in the qualifier, Tricked and Aristocracy, lost in the round of 16, one step before the HLTV-featured matches. Nicolai "⁠HUNDEN⁠" Petersen's side lost in overtime to Polish side WENSZE, while Wiktor "⁠TaZ⁠" Wojtas's squad was unable to take down BuzzKill, who repeat their Open Qualifier 1 performance.

Epsilon was the first team to make it through the first day after GamerLegion, defeating Ambush to do so. x-kom took down their countrymen PACT, while AGO lived up to their status by taking down SJ.

22:02 GamerLegion reach top 16

After going out to Copenhagen Flames in the first qualifier, Kévin "⁠Ex6TenZ⁠" Droolans and co. reached the round of 16 in Open Qualifier 2 and will continue their run tomorrow against the winner of Giants vs. Overpowered. GamerLegion defeated CPLAY, TheDice, team_suplickk1, TGE-, and -mWo today.

21:35 Correction: Overpowered upset expert

Due to an issue caused by Overpowered using a sub, the bracket showed expert advancing to face Giants. However, the match was recreated and played outside of the cup, with the Slovenian team securing a strong 16-7 victory on Train. Overpowered will face Giants next.

21:26 More squads advance to round of 32

As the cup isn't fully synced, we go back to some Ro64 matches. Spanish side MAD Lions edged out Serbian squad BLUEJAYS, while LDLC stomped Pompa Black. The former team is now on route to face ex-3DMAX, barring an upset, while LDLC await the winner of Virtus.pro - Unicorns of Love.

expert reached the last match of the day by beating Overpowered, Aristocracy took down ehehxd, while Tricked had a bit of a tougher task, defeating Apeks. The squads are now waiting for their opponents, with the German side looking to have the toughest task as they will meet the winner of Giants - OFFSET.

The Danish team featuring Fredrik "⁠roeJ⁠" Jørgensen wasn't able to make it far this time around, losing 16-13 to Boys in Blue, featuring Valentin "⁠mistou⁠" Balbastro and Lambert "⁠Lambert⁠" Prigent.

The first match of the third leg features the Norwegian team Apeks, who will be taking on eSsa. Turkey5, a team featuring Ahmet "⁠paz⁠" Karahoca, Engin "⁠ngiN⁠" Kor and some new Turkish talent, reached the same stage of the tournament and will face off against sdasdad3.

Notable teams that didn't get byes in round of 512, such as SJ, BLUEJAYS, MIKSTURA, and Apeks, successfully advanced into the round of 256. The seeded bracket is still keeping apart the stronger teams, however, some interesting matchups could be happening in the next leg as ALTERNATE aTTaX seem on course to face Epsilon, and Dragons are looking to take on Ambush.
