Grayhound qualify for Asia Minor
Grayhound have punched their ticket to the Asia Minor after defeating AVANT 2-1 in the upper bracket final of the Oceania closed qualifier.
The qualifier, which offers two spots at the Asia Minor, kicked off on June 1 with an eight-team, double elimination bracket. AVANT defeated ORDER and Ground Zero to advance to the upper bracket final while Grayhound moved past PC419 and Genuine.
The game between AVANT and Grayhound kicked off on the latter team's map pick, Nuke. AVANT were impressive on the T-side as they picked up nine rounds in the first half. They closed out the map with a 16-10 score to take the 1-0 lead in the series.
Grayhound hit back on Mirage where they wasted five match points before wrapping it up 16-14. Ollie "DickStacy" Tierney and company didn't fool around on Inferno, securing the first 13 rounds on offense. Grayhound won the map 16-9 to take the 2-1 series victory, qualifying for the Asia Minor.
The other spot on the line in the Oceania closed qualifier will be given away in the consolidation final, which will feature AVANT and the winner of the lower bracket final between ORDER and rewound.
