The analyst desks are so weak now since Thorin and YNK aren't on them.
2019-06-04 18:14
thorin is not a good analyst so idk why you would compare him with the likes of Yanko and others
2019-06-04 20:06
He is limited as an analyst, but his historical insight and expertise on the map pool of teams, as well as the ability to remember small details from specific games/tournaments years in the past is really good to see on an analyst desk, something none of the other analysts bring to the same level. He might not understand why a particular team won a round or why a specific play was important, like a YNK/Spunj might, be he brings lots of other qualities. Also, one of his best qualities, he's fucking entertaining. Sorry but Maniac/Pimp are just ridiculously boring to listen to. Always 100% serious, zero banter (or when they do try, it is incredibly forced and reminds me of clips I've seen of cringey LoL analyst desks). Maniac brings a bit of good insight, albeit in an extremely tedious manner, but Pimp especially just spouts out cliches like "If X plays their own game they should have a good chance!!". You could literally sub me in for him and you wouldn't notice a difference, except maybe better English as I'm native.
2019-06-04 20:48
His indepth knowledge has no affect on being a good analyst. Sure hes a good CS wiki but the game is in a constantly evolving state. The past isnt really relevant when youre analyzing today. Every time ive seen him on the analyst desk he just goes with the favorite. Bettors who make profit month to month are better analysts.
2019-06-04 22:52
The past is absolutely 100% relevant when building storylines or talking about the previous matchups of the teams, or players within the team. It sets the game up. If you can't see the value in that, you probably don't like watching desks in general, which is fine, just go about your day and mute it. Also, sorry but did you even read what you just typed? "Every time ive seen him on the analyst desk he just goes with the favorite" That's exactly what you SHOULD do as an analyst. An analyst evaluates who will likely win the game. The likely team to win is the favourite. Whenever someone (like stunna) goes against the favourite, it isn't because he thinks the other team is better, it's because he's pandering to the crowd. And people lap it up like it's syrup because it reinforces their own boners for underdog narratives.
2019-06-04 23:14
Yeah but he doesnt evaluate. he blindly picks favorite with zero regard to potential upsets or close games.
2019-06-04 23:16
Again, you really need to read what you type. He's picking the favourites, BECAUSE they are the favourites. You don't go, "Oh, Liquid are playing Furia in the semi finals. Liquid are clearly the better team, some might say the best in the world, but omg look at Furia they are performing way better than expected!!. If you pick Furia in that scenario, you're a fool. Yes they might win, they have a chance to. They likely won'tely win the game. Sorry but if your gripe with Thorin is that he pick. And you're being asked, who do you think will liks the favourite to win then I'm lost for words.
