North complete massive comeback vs. MIBR in triple-OT Inferno affair
Playing on the offense at first, North started Inferno with a pistol round victory. Surviving the following anti-forcebuy, the Danes looked to get off to an early lead, but MIBR came up with a pop flash setup in mid and decimated their opponents with just upgraded pistols.
That set the tone for the remainder of the half, as the Brazilians put together an incredibly dominant defense led by Marcelo "coldzera" David, who kept racking up multikills on A while Fernando "fer" Alvarenga and Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo held B. North struggled to even get multiple kills on the board each round, while MIBR went on a 12-round streak to give themselves a hefty lead before going over to the Terrorist side.
coldzera had already found 24 kills by that point and he added two more key picks in the second pistol round, ensuring a successful post-plant defense for his team, who swiftly found their way to 14 rounds. When MIBR found themselves up against full weaponry, however, the tables turned. North gave their opponents a taste of their own medicine with a dominant run that saw them reach a one-round deficit, spearheaded by Jakob "JUGi" Hansen and his openings with the AWP.
A halfbuy in the 29th round broke the streak as a mistake from Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye in pit allowed MIBR to take over the A bombsite and fer to get a quad-kill, but the Danes still managed to take the match to overtime after securing the last two rounds of regulation.
It looked like North would be able to complete the comeback after they went 2-1 on the CT side and went on to secure match point immediately, but MIBR held on with fer and Epitacio "TACO" de Melo finding key multikills. Having disappeared for half of the match after an amazing start, coldzera reappeared with a quad-kill in the first round of the second overtime to turn around a 2v5, although North kept up with their opponents and the two sides went back-and-forth to reach the third overtime.
Neither team could establish momentum as the teams kept going blow for blow, until Philip "aizy" Aistrup stopped the shenanigans with a quick 1v3 clutch, helping North secure the third overtime with three in a row on the offense, emerging victorious from the grueling battle at 25-23.
