DreamHack Summer invites, groups revealed

DreamHack has announced the list of teams who have been invited to compete at the upcoming Summer event.

The direct invites to the $100,000 tournament include one team currently in the top 20, AVANGAR (No.16), and another in the top 30 in OpTic, who are expected to make their first offline appearance with Rene "TeSeS" Madsen after fielding the 18-year-old in the recent ESL One New York open qualifier as a replacement for Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer.

DreamHack Summer will also mark the LAN debut of Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev as a Winstrike player. The Ukrainian veteran has taken over as in-game leader following the departure of Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov to Natus Vincere.

Edward set to make his LAN debut for Winstrike

The six invitees will be joined by Valiance and Ancient, the winners of the online qualifiers, in Jönköping for the DreamHack competition, which will be held at the Elmia Convention Center from June 15-17.

The invite list for the tournament is the following:

The tournament will begin with a double-elimination group stage, featuring a best-of-three format in the elimination and decider matches, with the top two sides from both groups progressing to the single-elimination, best-of-three playoffs.

Well i think it is a good opportunity for these teams to prove themselves. Only watching the top teams, gets boring over time. And furthermore, how should teams in #30 - #50 improve if they almost never play against better teams( in this case valiance and avangar are the ‘top teams‘) And finally if people don‘t like these teams, then don‘t watch the games.
