Vitality outclass FURIA to win ECS S7 Finals

Vitality won the seventh season of the Esports Championship Series (ECS) following a 2-0 victory over FURIA in a one-sided final.

Prior to the match, Dan "apEX" Madesclaire had confessed that his team wanted to set the record straight against FURIA after losing to the Brazilians in Dallas. Here, they looked a much better side as they dominated the game in every possible department, shutting down the aggression that has made FURIA a nuisance for so many teams.

Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut was once again in impressive form, but there was so much more to Vitality than just their star player. And the scoreline on Inferno could have been even more inflated had Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato not pulled off an unlikely clutch in the first round of the series. Things are clicking pretty well for the French side, who pick up their second title in three weeks and will have almost one month to prepare for their next event, ESL One Cologne, which they will enter as one of the favourites.

As for FURIA, the match was a brutal - yet valuable - lesson about the limits of their hectic play style. They will have no time to lick their wounds, though, as they will return to action in just a few days, in the all-important closed qualifier for the Americas Minor, before flying back to Europe for Moche XL Esports.

KSCERATO opened the action on Inferno with a stunning 1v4 clutch, punishing Vitality for their over-eagerness in a round they had under control. It was a heavy blow for the Frenchmen, but the impact of that round was barely felt as a lengthy tactical pause halted FURIA's momentum.

Vitality were far too strong for FURIA

Once Vitality had money in the bank, the landscape of the game changed completely. They surprised FURIA's players with a wide array of defensive setups, winning seven rounds straight without allowing a single bomb plant. Things were starting to look pretty desperate for Andrei "arT" Piovezan's side, but the Brazilians picked up the pace to bring the deficit to a minimum before the end of the half.

Vitality came out of the break still on the front foot and chained five rounds together to put even more pressure on FURIA. The Brazilians responded by taking two rounds - the second of which with another clutch by KSCERATO -, but their efforts were in vain as the Frenchmen regained control of the game and quickly wrapped things up.

The French team carried their momentum into Overpass and shut down the FURIA offense to pick up a 6-0 lead. The Brazilians still attempted a response, but three rounds were all that they could muster as they struggled to break down the water-tight Vitality defense, with ZywOo leading the charge with 19 kills.

Now playing on the Terrorist side, Vitality took the pistol round with a quick A push, piling more misery on FURIA's players. Double kills by KSCERATO and Yuri "yuurih" Santos in the first gun round still gave Brazilian fans some hope, but they merely delayed the inevitable as the Frenchmen hit back instantly to put the series to bed.

What a domination by Zywoo and Vitality! Furia had no chance at all, Vitality played so much better than them, i think furia is just not ready to play on the high level. Good luck to them. SO EZ FOR VITALITY, THE BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD.

How retard can you be to said that Furia isn't ready to play in the high level when they send you home in Dallas? And this tournament they won 3 maps against Astralis and they rekt North... they just choked against Vitality, if they had played like they did against Astralis or North it was easy for Furia. Jeez, Vitality just won one tier1 tournament and now they're getting cocky, but hey, then the brazilians are the worst fans lol
2019-06-09 20:08
Furia won against vitality and the other teams because their playstyle is a one of a kind and its a suprising playstyle (can be a really good playstyle) so they overran vitality the first time and they ran over the other teams by using their playstyle. Vitality just analysed their gameplan and found a way to counter it. So its not like vitality is cocky its just that they outplayed furia by analysing they’re playstyle and countering it. Furia just doesnt have more depth in playstyle but they show great potential to be a dope team. But its just that their playstyle has suprised the teams and thats how they overrun and won matches but now teams counter their playstyle.
2019-06-10 00:41
I understand what you are saying and I agree for the most part. But, they did beat Astralis twice in a row first in a Bo1 and then on that beautiful Bo3. I think that Vitality simply outplayed them in all sense. They weren't missing a single shot whereas FURIA didn't really seemed too bright this time around. For a newish team, I think they are growing rather fast and I expect them to improve even more for the upcoming events.
2019-06-10 08:03
Furia is not a new team and vitality might be just as new as team or even newer, its just that they have zywoo as their talent and their strats work really good.

Astralis didn't played on LAN for a long time and as Vitality in Dallas they weren't prepared for their playstyle and didn't manage to get a game plan that would counter them in their Bo3. Notice that Vitality played Furia 2 times in 2 different event whereas Astralis played in the same event so they should have less time to prepare their 2nd opposition against Furia whereas Vitality had time to do it.
2019-06-17 18:06
And now their fans are getting cocky* That was what I tried to write, but I don't know what I typed lol, sorry.

They are ready yes, to compete at high level and another to win the Astralis 3 Maps and lost only 1, please remind me when '' your team '' won the best team in the world, they have won twice the BEST Nuke in the world. If Furia chooses Nuke would have lost 2x1. BRAZIL
2019-06-09 21:15
You should read player's interviews, all of them says that Furia only rely on a very weird, and thus surprising style. Vitality got trapped once, second time they analyzed their style and rekt them. Now that all the big teams had the opportunity to give it a look, Furia will struggle hard unless they work massively to give more depth to their game.

Fifth. What a boring final this unfortunately was... Let's just hope that Vitality can uphold this kind of form and show us this was not just a fluke, and let's hope FURIA can improve to be a solid team even in high pressure situations. THe CSGO scene needs all top teams to become really good now to keep interest in the game.

It's crazy the Numbers ZywoO is putting Up right now, but tbh i feel like the rest of the players has finally found a good place now after all the french shuffles. Both Apex and RPK finally feels motivated and are playing solid aswell. Nbk has his highs and lows but is a real all rounder with tons of experience. I Love ence btw! GOD ALLU.

Yeah! I hope they just keep improving. What i've been missing in top counter strike during 2018/2019 is teams being consistent in the same sense as teams were in 2015/2016 where u had alot of top teams that were really good. FAZE, SK, FNATIC, Virtus Pro, NiP, Na´Vi, Astralis.

2019-06-10 20:38
You probably mean 2014/2015 with dignitsm, fnc, na'vi, vp, nip, LDLC or envy, c9?, lg, G2, certainly a better era than 2016 which had a decent FaZe and then u had to go with like Na'Vi and LG/SK cuz you were out of teams after that, FNC dying, NiP dying, Astralis kinda lost tbh, french scene had a decent G2 at times, it was a rather weak year 2016. But yeah, if Vitality and Furia can also be top teams u already have teams like Liquid, Ence, Astralis (probably), Na'Vi, u could count faze and fnatic, mibr, Nip, NRG, there are a lot of teams that look like they could be strong enough to make a great competitive era that we kinda lacked for a few years...

Yeah maybe my memory is failing me a bit. The years when Olofmeister was so incredibly good is in my eyes the most competetive years of CS, maybe that was back in 14/15 yeah? Was it 16/17 when LG/SK took over completely right? Yeah but Na´Vi still have so many question marks surrounding them, and we still have no good Swedish or polish team. AND we need FAZE back to form, and in my eyes we also need SHOX and KENNYS to switch to an international team where they can be stars. Maybe G2 can go international again and aquire Karrigan, Sunny and Ropz. MIBR also needs to work out what's stopping them, maybe exchange FELPS cuz' for some reason i don't believe in him. Honestly exchange FELPS for KSCERATO i think would be a good move.
2019-06-09 20:12
To be fair G2 is looking decent aswell, and I forgot mouz now that u mention karrigan. There are good teams.

Astralis will come back to form, that i'm sure of, i just think it's a matter of time. North is looking better and better aswell so it's nice to see Danish scene doing so well, i just wish the Swedes could get their shit together.
2019-06-09 20:14
Right now I think the swedes are looking better than the danes. Mostly cuz one of the danes is attending like 1 tournament every 4 months and the other two danes are either almost orgless or rarely ever invited to anything. The swedes at least appear ig.

2019-06-09 20:21
Anyway, I think that HLTV ranking system needs some adjustments. I don't think it's accurate as it can be

Maybe number 2 or 3 doubt they would go up 700 points of 1 win verses not so great opposition. However, as a Vitality fan I consider them number 2 in the world rn.

This is the rekt all haters have been waiting for since FURIA beat NRG on that bo1 in Dallas... here it is, enjoy. It felt like FURIA lost 90% of the entry duels, it was crazy, they weren't hitting any shot at all, even when they had the positional advantage. Terrible series my the entire team, nothing worked out. Now it's their obligation to win Moche XL next week and watch these demos to be better prepared for Cologne.

They had far less chance considering they already faced themselves, the surprise effect wasn't there anymore and Vitality had time to prepare this match and countering Furia playstyle. GG to them considering they are now the n°1 team in Brazil
2019-06-11 14:42
I'm not sure it was a matter of "surprise effect". Their aim were not as good as before, besides kscerato. Maybe because they were nervous. Zywoo won the game by himself on his duels against Art, etc. I would like to see a re-match with their aims on point.

Dude that was so one sided, Furia couldn't do anything about that, they are great but rely on the same playstyle which is less structured and rely much on individualities than any other top 10 team. They are very skilled but if their opponent are aware of their playstyle and have enough strategies to counter it, it's much more difficult
2019-06-11 17:56
Ok dude, stop acting like VITA was top 1 team. I know it was one sided and I told you why. Bye.

I acting like Furia didn't played any T1 teams before these two weeks and became top 10 very quick because of good results but they can't be consistent like Astralis in two weeks dude

Ok, buddy. top 4. VITA is really so much better than the top 5. Congrats. PS: FURIA played planty of top 10 teams and TL became top 1 without beating Astralis.

2019-06-09 21:37
Congrats Vitality, was waiting for that for so long! there really is a spot to take! Now you "only" have to carry on and beating the best team on a constant basis!!! This tournament was quite good but still missing Liquid and ENCE!! Congratulations again <3
2019-06-09 21:39
Furia can only grow. When LG appeared, they lost a lot until they won the major. But Art needs to learn how to be consistent, too much aggression and mistakes sometimes this doens't pay off and better teams will punish it. I don't know if they will be in the top for a long time, because teams will study them a lot now.
2019-06-09 21:50
Well played Vitality
2019-06-09 22:04

2019-06-13 14:29
I’m not implying that he is the only reason. But let’s face facts here. Zywoo is the biggest piece to this puzzle. Without him I don’t think they could have found any other French player to do the job he is doing for this team. No zywoo = no top 5. That’s just obvious

He is just too good but the 4 guys around him are here to make him shine and they have create a good chemistry. I don't think that there is many better options atm, they've reach a good level as a team and the fact that they've perform that well during the last three weeks is because they've worked a lot as a team and you can't just put a god in one team and think that it will work anyway (look at Faze) they've create a team where ZywOo is able to shine and being in good position whereas the other player make sometimes the dirty work and do it well in many case at a point that they are able to reach this ranking in 6 month and constantly progressed
