GG.BET Cologne Invitational groups and schedule announced

Following the reveal of the eight teams that will compete in the tournament, the organizer has announced the groups and schedule for the ESL One Cologne qualifier.

The favorite to secure the final ESL One Cologne slot, Liquid, is placed in group A, while the second biggest name of the GG.BET Invitational, G2, has been put in group B. The North American powerhouse, ranked #1 in the world, will start the tournament by taking on Spirit, with Sprout and NoChance finalizing group A.

Liquid are the overwhelming favorite for the ESL One Cologne spot

Alongside G2, group B will feature Windigo, HellRaisers, and Movistar Riders, with Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas facing off against the team he represented during his short French-scene experiment in the opening game.

The group draw is available below:

They initially declined an invite because of scheduling but I guess changed their minds and now have to qualify.
2019-06-11 18:46
They should make it out of this with ease but with it being online anything can happen It would suck for them to be in europe for this and then not make it to cologne
2019-06-12 00:08
they are playing in france i bet because they are about to play at the esl pro league finals. they have probably been bootcamping over there since dreamhack masters dallas and if the win the quali they will probably continue to stay over for cologne and then fly back to LA for blast pro and then iem chicago. then i bet they will either play another touney or bootcamp/time off before the major.
2019-06-12 02:28
Are u their manager?
2019-06-12 08:11
Yes my name is steve
2019-06-14 00:14
Actually, they are playing in Malta.
2019-06-16 15:07
why malta? are they boot camping there or something.
2019-06-17 01:44
Yes, in Malta. They always boot camp there. Not sure why.
2019-06-17 03:10
wow your right i just looked it up and mibr is there as well. thats interesting. i never would have thought that malta would be a suitable location for a team to bootcamp.
2019-06-17 04:39
I believe Liquid has some sort of deal with a hotel there that has amazing internet.
2019-06-17 05:46
oh thats pretty sweet then. i tuned in for the cologne quali stream and they said that they flew from malta to France because esl pro leagues starts in like a day but they played the group stage of the quali at malta and did some meet and greets as well i think.
2019-06-18 02:16
They played today in their prac room @ ESL Pro League.

loWel realized that the Spanish scene is pretty dead and got an opportunity to play for a team that has much more potential, instead of exiting at the open qualifiers for a major.

First of all, Spanish scene is actually NOT DEAD. I have been watching loWel matches for a long time, at the first time he have a good offert he go out, he just sign for riders to increse his performance not to make a full spanish team. You guys talk with no base. I'm a really big fan of Movistar Riders and the "case lowel" was a big problem in Spain CS. In a interview, Mixwell says there where all sad and angrily for loWel (He cry in the interview). twitlonger.com/show/n_1sqs0oc

EPL finals is in France but Cologne qualifier is online and because Liquid is an NA team they'll have to love in EU and Malta is friendly to that kind of behavior

Everyone assumes that TL will win this and that this entire event was put together as a way to get TL in Cologne. I honestly hope that they somehow lose this just because of the shock and drama that would ensue.
2019-06-11 23:35
they asked about possibility to invite them to our event and we did it. It's actually better for event if we get as higher teams as possible in rankings.

Why shit riders invited?
2019-06-12 08:56
invites were done by ranking system , considering also possibility to play our tournament, cause a lot of teams: 1) can't play due to Dreamhack 2) can't play due to LAN in Portugal 3) prefer not to play to secure training process before EPL etc
