Heroic qualify for ESL One Cologne 2019

Heroic successfully bested AVANGAR 2-0 in the consolidation final of the ESL One Cologne 2019 Europe closed qualifier, securing a slot at the $300,000 event.

The best-of-three consolidation final saw Heroic kick off to a convincing start on Overpass. Having started on the offense, Benjamin "blameF" Bremer and company conceded the initial pistol, subsequently snatching the momentum through a pistol-buy that saw Patrick "es3tag" Hansen score a Deagle quad kill. This allowed the squad to snowball long-term, as AVANGAR only sporadically secured rounds, concluding their defence with a 3-12 deficit.

Overpass concluded shortly after, as the second pistol went in the way of Heroic, as did the following three rounds, placing the Danes on map point. The opponents exchanged a round each, concluding the map 16-4.

blameF and his men are through to ESL One Cologne 2019

Dust 2 witnessed further domination from Heroic, as the Danes leapt to an immediate 6-0 lead on the CT side, placing their Kazakh opponents in a predicament and a half. Fortunately for the Ts, they were able to snap the momentum mid-half, preventing the defence from securing too heavy of a lead at 6-9.

A consecutive pistol victory for Heroic extended their advantage by an additional two rounds, but contrary to their initial performance, no significant consecutive string was accrued. Instead, AVANGAR equalised the scoreline at twelve rounds apiece, very nearly coming back into the series. In the concluding rounds, however, Heroic ultimately managed to take their opponents' map pick, securing the ESL One Cologne slot after a close 16-13 victory on Dust 2.
