FURIA & Lazarus advance to Americas Minor
FURIA and Lazarus have joined the Americas Minor team list after beating TeamOne and Luminosity, respectively, in the upper bracket quarter-finals of the North American closed qualifier.
After the opening day of the qualifier saw the first round of the upper bracket played out, with the favorites making it through in each matchup except one – as Cloud9 lost to New Identity –, the second day began with the first four elimination matches in the lower bracket.
There, four teams exited the competition including Cloud9, who continued their shockingly poor run and suffered a defeat at the hands of The Quest.

The latter part of the second day began with the first two spot-deciding matches in the upper bracket quarter-finals, as FURIA and TeamOne locked horns in an all-Brazilian battle, while Lazarus took on Luminosity.
Having returned from a hugely successful run overseas, Andrei "arT" Piovezan & co. lived up to their status as big favorites, making light work of their compatriots on Nuke before denying them a comeback on Overpass, securing a spot at the Americas Minor.
Meanwhile, Lazarus, who were fielding two stand-ins in Tyson "TenZ" Ngo and Pujan "FNS" Mehta instead of Braxton "swag" Pierce and Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker, bested Luminosity in a three-map thriller.
The following four teams are now through to the Americas Minor, which will be held in Berlin, Germany, on July 17-21:
Two more spots will be decided later on Thursday as eUnited clash with New Identity and Singularity go up against NRG, while the last two will come from the lower bracket.
