TeamOne, Singularity round out Americas Minor list

The qualifying process for the Americas Minor regional has come to an end, with TeamOne and Singularity booking the final spots at the $50,000 event.

The final day of the closed qualifier began with eight teams still in contention for the prize - the chance to attend the next Americas Minor. The opening round went according to script as all the favourites managed to progress, with Envy the only team who required three maps to beat their opponent, New Identity.

The Brazilian derby between TeamOne and Luminosity opened the action in the third lower bracket round and, as many had predicted, it was a nail-biting affair. Luminosity claimed the first map with a vintage performance by Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles, who put in a team-leading 1.49 rating, but then TeamOne reverse swept the series with strong individual performances by Alencar "trk" Rossato and Pedro "Maluk3" Campos.

TeamOne stunned Luminosity to qualify for the Minor

The qualification comes as a massive boost for TeamOne, who have not attended a LAN event since the previous Minor. As for Luminosity, the defeat was a bitter pill to swallow, and it raises questions about the team's form heading into the ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals, next week.

The other qualifying match followed the same pattern as the team who claimed the first map fell short in the end. Envy drew first blood with an overtime victory on Inferno, but they could do little to stop the Singularity duo of Ricky "floppy" Kemery and Ryan "ryann" Welsh, who carried the team to convincing victories on the next two maps.

The Americas Minor will be held from July 17-21 in Berlin and will see eight teams - six coming from the North American qualifier and two from the South American qualifier - square off for two spots in the StarLadder Major's New Challengers Stage.

tbh a lot of teams in br qualifier are usually weaker as they stay in br (unless they go back for it like some teams). the stronger teams play in na qualifier so they should be getting 4 as default. if nrg&furia makes it then next minor will be real weak

Might well be especially if furia and NRG get top 14 finish to avoid minor. tho we must remember there is actually really long break between the majors this time, could well be minors have complexity, C9 new team for instance who could be decent.

Liquid and NRG are world class teams, but rest of NA scene is complete trash. I can't even say who is the 3rd best NA team.

Does anyone know how many can make it to the major? Is it 2 or 3?
2019-06-15 11:28
2 go To the major and the third go to play-in He face the third of the other minors for a place
2019-06-15 12:50
C9 and HR don’t have their cores Which if they don’t get their core together The slots will probably go to 2 more minor teams Making every single 3rd place qualify from the minors not sure tho

Brazilian scene seems to be improving a lot recently at the same time as the NA scene in general is failing a bit.
