Astralis and Heroic dominate opening matches in Montpellier
Astralis commenced the second batch of best-of-ones on the T side of Inferno, opened by a triple kill from Nicolai "device" Reedtz. The Danes got off to a swimming start in the form of seven consecutive rounds, as the American-majority roster consistently struggled with their opponents' B site hits. Some footing was found by Cloud9 after persistent losses, highlighted by a Five-seven triple kill from William "RUSH" Wierzba, but only a total of four rounds were secured by Cloud9 come conclusion of the half.
A consecutive pistol round victory for Astralis exacerbated Cloud9's predicament, but Maikil "Golden" Selim and company managed to establish a string of rounds after the early losses, closing the deficit to five. Contrary to the confidence demonstrated prior, the Terrorists ultimately faltered in their ambition to mount a comeback, as Astralis advanced to the upper bracket off the back of a 16-9 victory on Inferno.

The fourth and final best-of-one of group A saw Heroic kick off on the CT side of Dust 2. Initially, the dynamic was turbulent, as snowballing did not follow post-pistol victory for the Danes, but after the teams exchanged three rounds each, some traction was gained, allowing a solid mid-half lead of 8-3. DETONA ensured that this was all she wrote for Benjamin "blameF" Bremer and company, closing out the remaining four rounds to produce a close 7-8 half.
Having hopped over to the offense, Heroic found consecutive pistol round success, and as a consequence, a furthering lead. DETONA managed to upset with rifles in hand, but the showing was insufficient in stopping the Danish onslaught, as Heroic closed Dust 2 after conceding just one round in the latter half to the Brazilians at 16-8.
