Heroic eliminate fnatic; FaZe guarantee playoffs spot at ESL Pro League Finals

Heroic eliminated fnatic with a 2-1 series victory, meanwhile FaZe secured playoffs participation at the EPL S9 Finals at the expense of North (2-1).

Group A's third lower bracket series saw Heroic and fnatic struggle for survival in Montpellier. The first map of the best-of-three, Nuke, witnessed an astonishing offense put up by the Danes, kicked off with a triple kill from Adam "friberg" Friberg. The performance inspired the entire squad, as the team was persistently able to dismantle the Swedish defence, only conceding three rounds over the entire half at 12-3.

NaToSaphiX played a massive role on Nuke, closing with a 1.63 rating

Jesper "JW" Wecksell and company copped the second pistol, and even went on to more than double their score, but a productive pistol buy from Heroic that saw exceptional positioning and crossfires in the Outside area meant a break in the Swedes' momentum, and, subsequently, a confident 16-7 victory for the Danes.

Mirage ensued, and contrary to the lopsided dynamic seen on Nuke, the teams went shoulder-in-shoulder from the very get-go. Heroic opened affairs with a second productive pistol round, but snowballing was not to be seen, as the Swedish offense took matters into their hands upon securing rifles. The teams traded short stints of momentum in back-and-forth fashion, reflect in the 8-7 half time score, favoured towards the Danish defence.

Brollan's individual form ensured a third map for fnatic

Upon assuming the CT side, fnatic really got the ball rolling, running away with an awesome six consecutive rounds, propelling themselves into their first round lead on Mirage. Heroic were able to dot a few rounds on the offensive, but the Swedish confidence remained unwavered, testament to which was a quad kill from Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin, who contributed to securing map point, and a subsequent 16-12 victory.

Concluding the series was Overpass, where in spite of a successful start, fnatic experienced immense struggle on the offense. An early economy supplemented by a bomb plant was shattered by the Danish defence, and once this occured, the Swedes were unable to find solid footing over the entire first half. Sporadic round victories and persisting issues allowed Heroic an 11-4 foot into the second half.

stavn stepped up on Overpass, closing out the series

Further domination followed from the Danes, this time on the offense. A productive pistol round opened opportunity for a leap forward, and it was not squandered, as Heroic went on to accrue the first three rounds of the half. Further disaster struck for fnatic after a crucial 2v2 situation was conceded in round 20, marking yet another broken economy. Despite an ensuring force buy, fnatic held on a little longer, subsequently faltering and facing elimination with a 6-16 scoreline.

Over on group B's first upper bracket series, FaZe and North contested for a guaranteed playoffs spot. The Danish squad got off to a swimming start on Inferno, where a fruitful offense was kicked off with a successful pistol round, followed by an additional three victories, the latter-most attributed to Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså's AK-47 triple kill. The dynamic proceeded in favour of North, as financial struggles coupled with failed holds produced an 11-4 half in favour of the Terrorists.

aizy concluded Inferno with an astonishing 1.90 rating

Having switched over to the defence, North cruised to a first map victory, as a consecutive pistol round victory was followed up with momentum. A strong Short hold from Nicklas "gade" Gade that witnessed an AUG triple kill secured map point, and North swiftly closed out with an outstanding 16-4 score.

Mirage marked the second map of the series, commencing with a 4-0 dash from FaZe's T side. North were able to equalise immediately, but the offense was outplaying the defence in consistent fashion, including a 1v2 clutch from Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, who ensured his team's momentum rolled all the way to a 9-6 T half.

NiKo's performance on Mirage yielded him a 1.68 rating

On the defence, FaZe landed a consecutive pistol round victory, and off the back of this development, were able to further their lead an additional four rounds. Retaliation came from valde and company once finances were in check, but the pushback proved insufficient in stopping Filip "NEO" Kubski's squad from closing out at 16-8.

Dust 2 concluded the series, witnessing a stellar CT showing from FaZe on the defence. Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács landed two triple kills in the space of the first three rounds, accounting for the initial lead. After this individual performance, the squad consistently halted North's offensive, with as few as three rounds slipping in the way of the Danes come half time.

GuardiaN topped the scoreboard on Dust 2 at 32 frags

In the concluding half of the series, North demonstrated their stronger CT side, asserting victories in seven consecutive rounds. To add to the excitement, Jakob "JUGi" Hansen posted a triple kill with the AWP while holding the A site, assisting his team in clawing back to a level score. After a series of consecutive losses, FaZe went on to ensure overtime at a base minimum, having accrued three back-to-back rounds, simultaneously increasing the pressure on the Danes. North withstood the pressure placed on their shoulders, pushing the map out of regulation.

Opposite to their earlier T-side showing, FaZe produced a 2-1 half in extra time, and after swapping to the defence, managed to close out two fast rounds on the defence, closing the series with a 19-16 scoreline.

1 game lol. Everyone can’t preform every time. FaZe really only need 1 or 2 of their stars have a great game to win tournaments. In my opinion, man for man they are the most skilled in the world right now.
